@pmbug , I don't know what your midsection/belly was like prior to starting all this, but I was wondering if you've lost some inches of your waist measurement?

I had a tire (beer belly) growing there. That's gone and it's now a washboard again. I didn't measure with a tape, but I'm fitting into older pants/shorts again.

I know you said you were fitting into your older shorts, but was wondering about the pudge. Glad to hear it's gone. I might have to start doing some of what you're doing. I have a small, but very stubborn pudge of fat on my belly. I've got a good BMI (23), but the belly seems to be the last place my body wants to give up fat from.

I have not been diligent in updating this thread. I've been somewhat lax on the working out the last few days. I have gotten a jog in a couple of times, but even that hasn't been consistent lately. It's just been a confluence of assaults on my daily routine pulling me in different directions.

Crucifix Crunch - 3 sets of 15 reps. Easy. Didn't even feel the abs working until halfway done with the last set.

Core Hold Series (immediate transitions)
  • Form 1 - Arms parallel to legs at ~20 degree angle to the floor. Lower back firmly on the floor. Around breath 10 or so I made an extra effort to relax everything except my abs and slow down my breath. I kept my back off the floor through breath 23. Stopwatch says 55.23 seconds. The stopwatch times on my back off the floor efforts seem to be pretty consistent around 55 seconds regardless of whether I'm breathing fast, moderate or slow.
  • Form 2 - I kept my feet extra low to the floor (~15 degrees - lower than Form 1). Lower back arched a bit almost instantly and I had to really work to keep it close but not quite flat on the floor. 30 breaths done.
  • Form 3 - I kept my kicks low to the floor - maybe 5 to 15 degrees from bottom to top. Finished 30 breaths with lower back close to the floor.
Abs worked hard but weren't really sore when I finished.

Side planks
  • Left side - 25 reps. Medium speed (not super slow). Shoulder was signaling moderate to strong pain when I finished, but it felt different today - not as acute.
  • Right side - 25 reps. Shoulder was popping loudly throughout until rep 8. I felt light pain in the shoulder during the last few reps.
Obliques handled the reps fairly easily today. I could have pushed for more and would have if my shoulders had not been in pain.

Horse Stance - 1 set of 60 is MY goal
It took me about 10 breaths to finally settle into what I thought was the correct form with hips forward and spine/back straight/vertical from my head to my tailbone. I was wanting to quit after breath 20 something. I pushed on. At breath 40, my knees starting shaking. I lasted to breath 46 and stopped. Stopwatch says I lasted 2 minutes and 4 seconds. My quads are burning slightly.

Active Dead Hang - Wide grip today. Lasted 14 breaths / 23.58 seconds. Left hand pain screamed around breath 10. I tried to push it, but had to stop after breath 14. Oof.

Running out of time so I'm going for a jog instead of doing the Wall Sit today.
