Every year on April 7, silver advocates and sound money supporters around the world will come together to celebrate International Silver Day, a newly launched global initiative that honors silver’s historic role, modern relevance, and future potential.

Why April 7?

The date was chosen for its symbolic tie to silver’s atomic number: 47 on the periodic table. Known by the symbol Ag, silver has been part of civilization for over 5,000 years, used as money, adornment, technology, and a cornerstone of trade. Recognizing it with an official day was long overdue.

A Vital Metal, Long Overlooked

Silver is unique: it’s both a monetary metal and an industrial powerhouse. It was used in coinage for centuries, trusted by empires from the Greeks to the Spanish. In the modern era, it plays a critical role in solar panels, electric vehicles, semiconductors, and medical applications.

A Mission with Momentum

The initiative aims to raise awareness, drive engagement, and recognize silver as a monetary pillar, a critical mineral, a timeless store of value, and a symbol of cultural and historical importance.

Over the next year, we’ll spread this message, reach more communities, and bring in bullion dealers, educators, and creators to help carry it forward. Whether it’s through articles, podcasts, events, or social campaigns, we want to give silver the spotlight it deserves.
