One of the most significant financial crisis measures taken by the Italians was the "Legge Salva Banche" (Bank Rescue Law), which was passed in December 2008. This law allowed the Italian government to provide guarantees and capital injections to stabilise the banking system.

Kind of sounds Mafia-like....

Once the public save you, you'd have to expect that your soul belongs to the taxman. LOL, Never take a loan from the Mafia, it's probably impossible to square the debt!
