So, now our military is dependent upon foreign sources for ammunition to protect our country. And how long do you think that those foreign sources will continue supplying lead if those foreign sources (or their allies) are targets of our military?

Who then is recycling all those car lead-acid batteries that they want you to turn back in? They are largely lead-oxide and lead-sulfate and need to be "smelted" to recover the basic materials. The "lead" plates are only a small part of the total lead, and those are usually alloyed with calcium for the maintenance-proof sorts, a bad alloy to use for bullet casting as it turns out.

Glad I have a lot of lead here - I recycle the stuff out of my shooting backstops...and buy new supplies from rotometals. Good outfit and cheap shipping, plenty of selection as well.

I read somewhere that the batteries are being sent to Mexico for recycling.
