So, let’s take a look at the darker side of 1950s Main Street.

Jul 4, 2025
There was a time, not so long ago, when shopping in America was a rewarding experience. You didn’t park in a giant lot or get lost under harsh fluorescent lights. You walked down your local Main Street—maybe with your mom, and a few dollars in your pocket—past familiar storefronts and familiar faces. Before the rise of superstores, Main Street was the bustling center of the community.

Sexual license/anarchy always leads, in a generation, to societal and social chaos.

It's been studied. I don't have a link handy. Take my opining, with a grain of salt...but know and remember, as some Web commentator rediscovers that breakdown.

Hey, where'd you get a picture of my front room?

And I don't mean 30 years ago. I mean NOW. That's my desk. Which, since you asked, I did buy in 1999.

I have a rack for CDs, and a dedicated spot for the tower computer to sit. I stack old DVDs there, now.

And I have no CDs. I have an external 1tb drive, with more music on it than CKLW had in 1980.
