The 1950s Might Have Been The Perfect Decade
Feb 7, 2025Growing up in the 1950s was a unique experience, it was marked by a blend of innocence, imagination, and cultural transformation. Daily life was full of foundational values that shaped an entire generation. So, let’s explore what it truly meant to be a kid in the 1950s, an idyllic time that still resonates with many of us.

It was a turbulent time. I was too young to know - two years old when it closed out - but there were stories.
Korea and the resumption of steel rationing to industries. The automakers, still filling pent-up war demand, were fearing shutdowns and even conversion again to war materiel.
China fell to Mao and his band of buttheads. No one knew how fast or how far the mental illness that was Marxism, would spread.
1952 was a serious recession year. Almost as bad as the 1971-73 recession.
Ike, swept into office by popular acclaim...people weary of alphabet regulatory agencies, the Raw Deal and Truman's foul mouth...Ike kept the nation focused, by experiencing a heart attack. In office.
This, short years after the White House almost collapsed. Under all the paint and fine plasterwork, the interior structure of the WH was found to be seriously rotted. Rebuilding it with steel girders was a job.
And it all ended with Kennedy - telling us his father, bootlegger Joe Kennedy, had ordered him not to spend a penny more than needed to steal the election. Which did take considerable work, even though his opponent was the bumbling RINO fool, Nixon. Sort of like the Jebster Bush of his age. And I fear that, like Nixon, Jeb Shrub may again rise out of the primordal ooze.
Those were not good times. Economically they were better than the thirties; but not as good as they should have been. Roosevelt's crushing wartime taxes continued - and yes, one campaign pledge Kennedy made and kept, was a tax rollback. That was what made the 1960s better than the 1950s.
What we HAD, was a stable culture and unity of purpose - of ideals, aspirations, hopes.

Remembering US: 1950 (Part 1) NEW SERIES!
Feb 8, 2025Remembering US, covering the pre-rock n' roll years of American life, will run concurrently with The America We Knew series. It's in the same style as TAWK, except that instead of going month by month, each year will have six chapters, not necessarily following events in chronological order. And like TAWK, it's not meant as a comprehensive history lesson. Instead, it's more of a breezy tour of the sights and sounds of the era. Whether you were alive in 1950 or not, this is a fascinating period in our cultural past. Yes, this world actually existed 75 years ago!

All gone. You can thank the Frankfurt School, with their three-generation onslaught of Cultural Marxism, for that.
It hasn't gone like the Frankfurt Marxist academics were taught it would...no surprise there...but the damage is lasting. Social and community cohesion are all but destroyed, now. Morality as a way of life, as guideposts on daily living...gone.
You only need look at traffic incidents to see this. Hit-and-runs are commonplace. Another common thing, is, scheissekophfs backing cars/trucks into persons behind, and claiming a rear-end incident. There are enough private dashcams catching this, that it's obviously not an aberration.
It's moral degeneracy.
It's the New Age.
It's what we've become, and I don't know how we get out of it. I can't find an example in history of a people that suddenly re-discovered moral foundations. Not short of societal collapse.

Feb 23, 2025Starting this look at the Fantastic Forties with 1949 (same format as Remembering US). The plan is to work back from '49 to '40 with a total of 60 weekly videos to come. So why the name change if it's the same format? Because many people, myself included, were not part of US because we weren't born yet. The new title, Yesterday USA, avoids that issue. And for those wondering whether it makes sense to go so far back, just watch the video. The culture was glorious to see and hear!
