September 2024. The guided-missile destroyer USS Stockdale (DDG-106) is about to enter one of the most contested waters of the world: the Red Sea’s Bab el Mandeb Strait.
 

Report to Congress on U.S. Extended Deterrence and Regional Nuclear Capabilities​

The following is the July 10, 2026, Congressional Research Service report, U.S. Extended Deterrence and Regional Nuclear Capabilities.

One of the stated goals of U.S. nuclear weapons policy has been to extend deterrence to over 30 U.S. “allies and partners” and assure these countries that the United States will come to their aid, including potentially by using U.S. nuclear weapons, if they are attacked. The 2010, 2018, and 2022 Nuclear Posture Reviews (NPRs), which are periodic executive branch assessments of U.S. nuclear policy, argued for strengthening extended deterrence and posited that it supported U.S. nuclear nonproliferation goals. The 2026 National Defense Strategy did not explicitly mention extended deterrence, instead stating that allies and partners would “take primary responsibility” for their own defense with “critical but more limited U.S. support.

Himmler's Alpine Cash Stash - Forgotten Escape Plan Evidence​

In this episode we examine the discovery of a huge stash of currency hidden in the Alps on Himmler's express order for use in his planned escape south in May 1945. Worth $119 million today, it is an important and forgotten clue to help us unravel Himmler's intentions in leaving Flensburg on 10 May 1945 and his going south through enemy territory. I have also discovered how this cash stash was conveniently located close to the two locations where his wife & daughter and his mistress and her children had been hidden by the SS to avoid captured by the Americans - an extraordinary coincidence or part of Himmler's master plan? I also reveal, based on evidence from the stash, where Himmler might have been intending to escape to - and it wasn't Argentina!

GAO Report on Hypersonic Missiles on Navy Warships​

The following is the July 17, 2026, Government Accountability Office report, Navy Ship Modernization: DoD Needs Comprehensive Strategy to Field Hypersonic Missile Capability.

What GAO Found

The Navy is currently 24 months behind in its efforts to modernize three DDG 1000 Zumwalt-class destroyers to host the Conventional Prompt Strike (CPS) hypersonic missile as part of its surface strike mission. Both the DDG 1000 and CPS efforts face challenges:

  • Although modernization of the first ship in the class, USS Zumwalt (DDG 1000), was 94 percent complete as of January 2026, it is behind schedule due to unplanned work.
  • The DDG 1000 class ships have unique systems, such as its radar, combat, and network systems, that are costly and difficult to sustain and maintain.
  • The CPS program encountered quality and production issues putting the current rate well below the production goal of 12 missile rounds per year.
