Kaplan is a rockstar. That's why NG is up 13% today and the rest of the miner are down 1%+.

It says something about how bad the previous management was and how good the new management's track record/

NovaGold Taps New CEO, Names Billionaire Kaplan Chairman

Gold prices fell Wednesday morning, but that did not sap the enthusiasm surrounding shares of one of the biggest miners in the industry after NovaGold Resources brought in a new chief executive from rival Barrick Gold and said current boss Rick Van Nieuwenhuyse will head up a spinoff of the company’s copper assets.

Greg Lang, most recently president of Barrick Gold North America, will take over from Van Nieuwenhuyse, who said “his extensive background in developing mines for the largest gold producer in the world, combined with his leadership ability, makes him the right person at the right time to take the helm at NovaGold as it enters its next phase of development to become a significant North American gold producer.”
