Juglands spp. of the family Juglandaceae. Includes numerous species in the genus Juglands. "Tropical" walnut includes any walnut that is specified as being either "tropical", OR from anywhere in South America, including Peruvian walnut which itself consists of at least 4 species in the genus Juglands.

Looks like black walnut but has a finer grain and machines more like cherry. A really nice wood to work - I would like to find more of it.

I made this to hold my gun cleaning stuff. No frills. No inner tray. No lining. No lift. I didn't even bother to finish the inside. Outside has an oil finish. Purpleheart bottom.
