Why is it that anyone in DC who takes a hard stand for fiscal responsibility, is always portrayed as a whack job?

Edited to add: all they gotta do is cut the extra spending that came about during the wuflu bs, and go back to 2019's level of spending.

Do that and we'd be really close to a balanced budget. Go back to 2018 spending levels and we would have a balanced budget and be able to start paying down our government's debt.

Spending for this current fiscal year (which started yesterday) is projected to reach $6.4 trillion. However only about $900 billion of that is “discretionary”, non-defense spending.

In other words, almost all the money that the government spends is either mandatory entitlement programs (like Social Security and Medicare), interest on the debt, or defense.

So cut defense spending. At least half the money is wasted anyways.
....and any mandatory spending only got that way by an Act of Congress and any Act of Congress can be altered by another Act of Congress.

As for fixing the budget, Joe here explains better, but it is entirely fixable. It just takes the political will to do it.

20 well worth it, minutes.

Someone needs to introduce Mr Moron from Knebraska to the US Government bond market prices. Lol

Poland is also leading space exploration on the globe by projecting to land a man on the sun by 2040. I know what you're thinking, but don't worry they are going at night.
