portions of NY want to seceded to PA

15 towns in 4 counties among the southern tier cite taxes and fracking. Wish to secede to PA.

I support this idea.

PA population is 1/2 rural-- 1/2 urban. We could use something to balance the influence of philly and pitt. Increasingly NE PE too.

What all these bewbs don't seem to understand is that in addition to BOTH states legislatures agreeing to it, so does the U.S. congress.

(Article IV, Section 3 of the U.S. Constitution outlines the procedure for the admission of new U.S. States. It states:

New States may be admitted by the Congress into this Union; but no new States shall be formed or erected within the Jurisdiction of any other State; nor any State be formed by the Junction of two or more States, or parts of States, without the Consent of the Legislatures of the States concerned as well as of the Congress.)

Most states have this bright idea of breaking off some part of it and either becoming their own state or joining another state, and the last time that happened was in the civil war. It's not going to happen now unless something as big as that happens. Not to mention the part that wants to become part of another state is usually either poor and wants the help of a more prosperous state, so the state they are wanting to join, won't want anything to do with them, or the part breaking off is well off and feels like they are carrying the rest of the state, so that state isn't going to let go of their cash cows.
