Emergency Stop turned Nightmare in Marshall Islands

Apr 19, 2025 GUAM

This video is entirely different from my previous ones in that it is about the horrendous experience my friend Steve was subjected to in the Marshall Islands, related by him. It is a case of the category “Paradise Lost”.
This is the story of false accusations of drug smuggling and a ransacking robbery of everything of value that Steve owned on board his yacht, after he had just sailed solo for 96 days from Mexico to Majuro.
I am part of this story, and I even was with Steve at the Immigration Office when he was presented, verbally, with a $2,000 fine. We insisted to have it in writing, but there still was no reason, no charge, no contravention of any law.
It is also the story of an unusual and very special schooner crossing the Pacific Ocean under jury rig, and the strength and resilience required of Steve for this endeavor.

Bon voyage.

Apr 30, 2025
On April 30th, 2025, at 6:00am, I left Warrenton Marina on the Oregon Coast. As you're watching this, I'm probably cold... and terrified lol.
For the first time, I’m sailing beyond the Columbia River, and I’m headed for Hawaii. I brought so much cat litter and so many treats, I’m genuinely afraid someone’s going to accuse me of kitty smuggling.
To those who are worried:
I’m bad at most things. But if there’s one thing I’ve mastered, it is my ability to endure. And that’s exactly what I’ll do.
Thank you all for the love. If I lose signal, I will see you all in about a month.
Sailing Phoenix, out.

Old Footage From a Past Steam Ship (2009)

May 18, 2025
This is footage of a now past steam ship I sailed. This footage was from 2009, but I rode her a few times. The ship was originally launches as the SS Almeria Lykes, and is 876 feet long. It is footage from 16 years ago so DO NOT expect perfect clear video like we have now. It is rather a rare look back at the steam plants of yesterday.

With ocean experience, he may be going Ray-Jason...doing the Sea Gypsy thing.

It sounds attractive....Jason was on a recent Kunstlercast; but I'd have my qualms, going from a team operation on a large vessel to single-man sailing.

That said...he may be thinking, as many are, that we're reaching a tipping point, and perhaps a period of nuclear hell.
