The Final Mile

Jan 9, 2026
After a sailing season on the Great Lakes running over 9 months and tens of thousands of miles, heading into winter lay up is a well-earned reward. And it seems that the final mile is always the longest.

And that discharge/sea-chest dumping a stream on the aft of the pilot boat. For their sake I hope it's only the fire-main discharge, and not sewerage.

That heaving sea, though, was one reason why I swapped duty to get off my first ship, a flagship that was repurposed from an LPD, to a carrier. I've never been prone to motion sickness, but on the small, top-heavy LPD, I was half-nauseous much of the time underway.

Well...looking at the big picture...this is what was to happen when "Free movement on the High Seas" breaks down.

When the Pax Americana finally failed. Now I don't think anyone expected that it would be America itself that would finally end it (with provocations, pointless military acts and open acts of piracy) but that's how this is going down.

And IMHO we shan't see another period of safety on the open ocean for another thousand years. This to me is why it's safe to say, Globalism is dead - just not lying still in its coffin, yet.

Preparing for an Ocean Passage

May 6, 2026
Ocean Passage Making is the pinnacle of a sailing career. Sailing a small boat out of sight of land, with the next landfall days or even weeks away, is the greatest test of your sailing ability. Join Captains Tursi, Mummert and Gifford as we discuss the preparations we are making for this year's Ocean Passage Making courses from Norfolk to Mystic and back. We'll discuss weather routing, provisioning, boat and crew preparation and answer your questions about this challenge.

I wish I could be as enthusiastic as Sal.

I did my Navy time, and would have been interested in the MM. More interested in Great Lakes shipping; but that's another story.

But that charming patriotic recruiting for the quasi-military recruiting effort for the merchant marine...right now, as we're seeing the Globalist financialists' plans, past and future, exposed...the more I feel like an absolute DUPE for putting on the uniform and volunteering to be cannon fodder.

Patriotism is a fine thing. Wars without point, to sell munitions and raise the trading price of MIC corporate shares...not so much.

I didn't believe the Gulf War (I and II, although in truth they were the same war, interspaced with a cease-fire that Iraq endlessly broke and tested) was fraudulently based. The Narrative of the time, 1989, was easy to see and not contradicted by inconvenient facts. Then followed by Bubba's dereliction of duty, while chasing fat interns; and it stood to logic, Iraq had to be shown, made to pay to violate their agreed conditional armistice.

The proof of whether Iraq was actually involved with the attacks September 11, less clear. Of course by then I was long out.

Evidence, now, is making it more murky. And each new military campaign is less and less persuasive. The Afghanistan and Iraq failures - and closed out with a SURRENDERING of TRILLIONS of dollars in cash and classified equipment. OBVIOUSLY deliberate. We were supposed to fight and die for THESE IMBECILES?

Now Trump, the No-Moar-War President, launches an insane, ill-timed attack on Iran, and the only reason he can give is the same trope we got fed in 1989. NUKES!

That's because Trump has become a pawn or puppet; and an alien head of an alien state is working him like a remote drone.

No...for this picture, because We The Little People are being used like toilet paper by the Globalists and their puppets, our leaders...for that, I'd advise anyone to NOT enlist, NOT sign on to an allied service (MM or CG) and prepare for an uncomfortable period, resisting. Draft is coming.

Radio room on board Patrol Vessel "FRITHJOF" c/s DBFJ - German Radio Officer Regidür Retlop at work

Jun 5, 2026
The video has ben captured on the Facebook page of the German Radio Officer Regidür Retlop, in the clip he was on service on board the big Deutsch Patrol VSL "FRITHJOF" c/s DBFJ.
The ship was built in 1968 by Schlichting Werft, Travemünde for the West German Government. In 1998 she was renamed EMSSTROM, and started a career as training ship.
She had a Gross tonnage: 1,716 tons and Summer DWT: 694 tons.

Came across this by accident. Posting it for pure entertainment. The guy who built this is one hell of an interesting character. It's a bit long, 41 minutes, but worth your time, imo.

Submarine for sale

May 31, 2026
Sam built his own submarine and now it could be yours!

^^^
A couple of things here. FIRST, that sub, with the orange DPW-truck gumball light on the conning tower...doesn't look ready to go underwater. Even if all that is removable, what about wiring entry into the sub hull?

SECOND...under the surface, the only navigation would be SONAR. Can a civilian even BUY that stuff, to use?

Third...the liability if your sub strikes something (because you're running blind underwater) and either damages it, or sinks and kills someone inside?

I only saw the first couple of minutes; but if he's saying he made a boat that LOOKS like a sub...that's a whole different tube of worms...

He claims it's a sub and says he thinks it may be safe up to 150 feet. Now as for me, no way. He did show one of the surface boats he built, looked pretty good.
