We don't need none of that Montana-style Second-Amendment freedom...nosirree, those Montana folks are strange ones. They don't even need many COPS! How the hell can we Organize police unions, when there's only a few police?

We need moar gun-control, and then moar cops to deal with all the safety that disarming the law-abiding brings!
 

Federal appeals court upholds controversial Illinois ban on semiautomatic guns​

A federal appeals court upheld a controversial Illinois gun control law that largely bans assault weapons.

The U.S. Court of Appeals for the 7th Circuit decision issued on Thursday slapped down a district court decision that declared the ban unconstitutional.

"Among other things, the Act criminalizes the manufacture, sale, delivery, purchase, and possession of assault weapons and large-capacity magazines. A grandfather clause permits preexisting lawful owners of the regulated items to continue possessing them," the Thursday decision noted.

What's an assault weapon? Any weapon that assaults someone. IOW, any weapon you want it to be.

What's a semiautomatic? Well...gee. Samuel Colt made the first one. Yeah. Any weapon that loads itself with a trigger pull.

That's most firearms.

That's basically all handguns except single-shot dueling pistols. Which would remain unrestricted...go figure.

Stuff like that is why dems should never be permitted the reigns of power. Just look at the shit they'd do.

Afaik, they just address the cases as they come into the Court. If no one ever challenged it, they woulda never had the case in order to make such a ruling.

Yeah, I get that.

But remember, the Left never says, "This is the objective; this is where we've achieved it." It's always to push further and harder until they have Stalin's Utopia, or chaos.

Leaving laws as they are, doesn't work into that. Strip them out, so we can have MOAR "Gun Violence" and the stooges in state assemblies, can say, gee, that didn't work, lets just ban THEM ALL.

Or get the Congress-traitors to do it. See? Pushing the ball ahead.

Now, felons' gun rights are an odd way to argue wrongful conviction. If someone is wrongfully convicted, he's imprisoned, losing years or decades of his life. THAT is a more-pressing issue (to him and us) than his right to have a gun.

If the conviction is wrongful, all kinds of rights are lost. If he can prove it was wrongful, let the courts examine that. NOT return his right to have a weapon, WHILE leaving him adjudicated a "convicted felon."

Because for every railroaded innocent, and for every rehabilitated criminal, there's a thousand simians who learned nothing, who enjoyed their stay in the Crossbar Hilton, and now would love to be able to go burn some @SS now.
