Thirdworldization: The Slow Burning SHTF of America

The developed world, accustomed to safety, convenience, and comfort, is facing a slow-burning SHTF called Thirdworldization by some. Each time humankind faces some tribulation like the one we’re currently going through, it feels like the world is coming to an end. In many senses, the threat is present: a pandemic is a serious SHTF. It IS the end for many.

But the real SHTF isn’t just the pandemic – it’s the effects on the system that Selco warned us about from the very beginning.

The ramifications of such events as Covid-19 and government responses are real and long-lasting. Despite theories surrounding COVID-19 (conspiratorial or not), the fact is real damage has happened to the economy and our lifestyle. To those who say we’ve been through a lot since March 2020, I’d argue we haven’t yet seen the full range of consequences. Objectively, we’re not even out of the pandemic.

The question remains: how and when will this Thirdworldization play out?

I concede this doom-and-gloom talk is growing old and burning out even among preppers. But we’re not talking probabilities: it’s already happening.

We must face reality and accept things are not going back to normal any time soon (if ever). It may indeed get worse before it starts getting better again. It’s past time to stop waiting for Black Swans and pay attention to subtle changes already underway.

It’s been a different SHTF for each country, each business, each family, and each person. On a more broad scale, there’s no way to tell for sure whether it will be a storm, “the” perfect storm,” or something in between. These things unfold slowly – the proverbial frog in the pot (until they catch up). As always, multiple interests and powerful forces are acting simultaneously in different directions, which means lots of possible ramifications.

7 Threats Seniors Face When SHTF (and what to do about it)

Aug 1, 2024
Seniors citizens must start prepping because they face more risks and dangers after a crisis, disaster, societal collapse, or other SHTF event. They also have unique responsibilities that people in other age groups may not have. I cover 7 unique threats and factors that are unique to senior preppers. Older adults should pay attention to these and note the 3 solutions I offer for addressing each of the 7 threats.

A Failure of Civility: Post Election Preparedness

With over two decades in the world's hotspots, I've seen firsthand what happens when society breaks down. The upcoming election could be a flashpoint, and you need to be ready. Here's your tactical briefing:

Human Terrain Mapping: Know your AO.
Who are your allies? Your potential threats?
Home Front Assessment: Is your position defensible?
Can you sustain operations?
Health and Fitness: In a crisis, the weak don't survive. Period.
Building a robust support network: You can't go it alone. Cultivate your tribe now.

Here's part 2. **Note: I edited out the vid I had originally posted here due to how long it is. I've now posted a condensed version. If you would prefer the longer version, you can watch it at the link I've provided. This one is a tad on the religious side, but his ideas are good. Reminds me of the gimer known as "numbers."

Survive Election Chaos: Find Allies, Spot Trouble, Escape Fast

When elections turn violent, survival isn't just about avoiding crowds—it's about seeing the chaos coming and getting out in time. In this follow-up to "survival mapping," we’re going deeper: how to team up with people who can have your back, spot the early warning signs of impending unrest, and—if it all goes sideways—how to break free from a riot before it traps you. Don’t get caught off guard. Your safety depends on these life-saving strategies.

That's an interesting thought on the face of it.

How do you protect your, uh, assets?

Leave them here? WHERE? A Chase SD box? Or other SD box?

Leave them with your brother-in-law? Yeah, sure.

With a custodial law office? Man, I'd have to really have confidence.

Sell or store to/in a bullion-vaulting company, or a paper exchange? Then you have the typical SHTF problems.

Keep them in the bottom of your boat going to the Bahamas? Good luck with THAT. Good luck taking them ashore, keeping them from getting robbed. The very-first time you sell one coin...your house will be TAKEN APART, and probably with the police watching, ready to take their cut.

What Is The Real Value Of Gold And Silver When The SHTF?

Mar 6, 2025 NEW YORK

What is the value of your gold and silver in a SHTF scenario? Many people believe when the electrical grid goes down, we will revert to living in the 1700s and they will trade their silver coins, gold bars, and even goldback notes for eggs, chickens, firewood, fuel, etc while everyone else without any gold and silver will just sit by and watch while they and their families starve and freeze. Is this realistic or just a LARPing (Live Action Role Play) fantasy that many preppers and silver stackers have?
I look at grid down SHTF scenarios of the past like the Siege Of Leningrad (1941-1944) , the Siege of Sarajevo (1992-1996) , and the economic collapse in Argentina (2001-2002). What items were the most valuable during these times? Were people using gold and silver to trade for food and supplies?

Considering the Effects of a Catastrophic Terrorist Attack

In recent years, there has been a growing concern that targeted acts of terrorism, focused on critical economic infrastructure, could produce cascading social and economic effects on a very wide scale. The authors carry out a scenario analysis and strategic gaming revolving around a catastrophic terrorist attack on the Port of Long Beach. The authors describe the results from this investigation and provide many of the primary results from the analysis in the appendixes. The analysis tools developed by the authors for this study lay the groundwork for research exploring both the short- and long-term effects of catastrophic events. The need is pressing to continue such investigations, particularly of longer-term economic repercussions. This work would entail developing scenarios for a new generation of strategic games. The overarching goals would be to gain insight into the decision landscape in the months following attacks of this magnitude with a focus on identifying where existing systems are likely to fail and evaluating the benefits of a range of potential economic policies. With these types of tools, policymakers could start to anticipate the types of decisions they might be called upon to make, reflect in times of relative calm on their options, and plan well in advance for contingencies.

Tha'ss funny.

Climate change? As in, Hot-War? While these mind-control essays are put out, telling the Euros to be afraid, be VERY afraid...the beta leaders in London and Brussels and Davos, keep on beating the war drums.

WHILE they criminalize FARMING. It's like they have a death wish! Not even wanting to hide it.

And dreck like this is put out there for the (m)asses to read and comply with.

They Hid in the Desert for 2 Years to Escape WWII – Unbelievable True Story

Mar 9, 2025

In 1940, as World War II raged, two German geologists, faced imprisonment in Namibia simply for their nationality. To escape, they fled deep into the unforgiving Namib Desert with their loyal dog, Otto. What was meant to be a temporary refuge turned into a brutal two-and-a-half-year battle against hunger, thirst, and the relentless forces of nature.
With limited supplies, they hunted wild cattle, fended off predators, and even suffered life-threatening illness—all while waiting for the war to end. This is their incredible true story of survival, resilience, and the harsh realities of life in one of the world's most extreme environments.

Americans Are Preparing for When All Hell Breaks Loose

Once thought of as a fringe mind-set, the prepared citizen movement is gaining traction in a world shaped by war, the pandemic and extreme weather.

April 9, 2025, 5:00 a.m. ET

Ten men, some wearing camouflage, others in vests loaded with ammunition for their AR-15 rifles, gathered under the morning shade of oak trees in Central Florida last month. They were there to learn marksmanship tactics common among Special Operation forces and elite law enforcement units.

Their instructor, Christopher Eric Roscher, an Air Force veteran, introduced himself and then led the group in prayer.

10 Lessons Learned from Spain´s TOTAL Blackout

20:22
I really liked his observation (correct, IMHO) about how Spain was "chill" because of the fewer numbers of "Beautiful Diverse Creatures" as opposed to (formerly, stiff-upper-lip) Britain.

His observations are commonsense, and it's well to post them here. But I have to wonder: How many here, haven't heeded them?

I have about seven months of food. I have 30 days of water - and that's here in an apartment. My biggest logistical fear, is that I have to move out of here - because of dead bodies - and cannot move my food and water (not all in the apartment, but the hills are many miles away).

His comments about people panicking (and contrasting with Spaniards, just having another beer) got me thinking - to my childhood, as happens with old geezers. In the late 1960s, we had a family project: Build a cabin, eventually to become a vacation home, on the waterfront of an inland New York lake.

We got the home shell as a pre-fab home. NOTHING in it. A big deal was getting power.

Power was from the local utility, Niagara Mohawk. They were not user-friendly. They required inspection of service hookups, breaker boxes, wiring, as they connected. Alternately, temporary construction hookups would have been an outdoor power outlet.

It was July, 1969. Summer...it was cool on the lake, and hot in Cleveland, so we were there for a week. N-M promised to inspect and hook up "sometime this week." We camped out.

NO power. We had a commode, plumbed to a virgin septic tank, flushed with pails of water carried from the lake. Cooking was by Coleman. Refrigeration was by the local ice salesman.

It was that period where we heard Neil Armstrong's moonwalk. On a battery radio, gas Coleman lantern lighting what would become the front room.

But we lived without power. Easily. Not that it totally compares to a crisis outage, but...good gravy, you can plan, and you can deal with hardships. That week...and actually many other weekends...we had drinking water out of three-gallon glass jugs, and brushed our teeth on the forest edge - spitting Colgate residue into the sumac, and rinsing mouths out with precious cups of water.
