Is it just me or does the ability to edit a post disappear after about 20 minutes or so?

Spent the past 20 mins looking for a good answer. Best I found:
Yes. You get a window of time after submitting to make edits, but the window isn't unlimited.I'm confused by the edit button.. Does it go away. Am I going to have to learn how to spell words right the first time I post?
Currently the window of time available for folks to edit a message they post is limited to:
