I moved out of suburbia 35 years ago, the silence was deafening. I moved again to the edge of 1,000 acres of forest 24 years ago, nearest neighbor is 300 ft away and lower elevation. I can hear the hum of my phone when it get a MSM message in the other room.
Living in the city or the suburbs is a nightmare to me.

I was walking around a nearby neighborhood yesterday. Near the end of my walk, I find a stack of coins on the sidewalk amidst some trash - a plastic (soda?) bottle and what looks to be bits of some fast food napkins and/or papers/bags. I bend over to inspect the stack and they are 3-4 quarters that are stuck together with some mystery goo. The quarters are reacting with the mystery goo and are discolored. The quarters are also sticking to each other almost like they were glued together with liquid cement, but I did manage to pry the top coin off the stack with my thumb with minimal contact with the mystery goo. The mystery goo could have been anything and I honestly was worried that it might be some sort of battery acid. I just left the stack on the sidewalk and carried on with my walk. I didn't want to deal with that mystery goo in my pockets or on my hands.
