What it is with this obsession that democrats have with my money I’ll never be able to completely figure out, but I’ll be damned if I am going to simply roll over and let them strip out my wallet. Every single day another democrat comes along to blame “The Republicans” for all the ills of the country and attempt to explain how just a few more taxes will cure all the problems and make everything from poverty to cancer disappear. These idiots actually believe the bullshit they peddle and it pisses me off to see so many uninformed adult <redacted - see forum guidelines on epithets> repeat their mantra as if it were The Word of God. Every single thing about this administration stinks of corruption and collusive secrecy. What was supposed to be a new era of open government looks more and more like the height of the Soviet Union and the East German Stasi. Today I read about US Park Service thugs handing tickets out to WWII Veterans who simply wanted to walk across what is usually an open concrete plaza, and of retiree tourists at a federal parks location being treated like criminals. What I see is rule by thuggery and oppression of the people; nothing more and nothing less. Obama has shown his true colors to the world and he is now proven to be a bully and a liar, capable of nothing except the destruction of our republic. He has shown us that he is without any feeling whatsoever for the People of The United States, and that he wants nothing more than to rule by diktat. House and Senate Democrats have been making ridiculous and slanderous statements about Republicans, calling them terrorists and murderers. Since when is this proper decorum? I am sick and tired of the whole shit show. I am also sick and tired of these Democrats rubbing our noses in their shit piles.

A fellow in my office is a die hard socialist and he’s been driving me up a fucking wall with his constant blithering about how Obama would be the greatest president in the history of the known universe if only Republicans would get out of the way and allow for the mass execution of anyone with more than 250,000 dollars, because no one “needs” to have more than that. He absolutely believes that a 99% tax rate on every dollar earned over 250K is the answer to all of our problems and that people like Bill Gates, Carlos Slim, Mitt Romney, et. Al., should be jailed for social injustice and their money seized to be given to the poor. He defends Obamacare to the death. His position is that the only reason premiums are going up so much is that people are refusing to sign up for it, and that if everyone would just give in and buy a policy that prices would drop to nearly nothing. He has no concept whatsoever of the ramifications that come with adding 50 million people to the insurance rolls, then requiring taxpayers to subsidize about 80% of their premiums. He refuses to acknowledge that pulling such an enormous quantity of money off of the consumer table [so to speak], will be a retailers worst nightmare. The destruction that Obamacare will bring down upon this country has yet to unfold, but when it does, expect the unexpected. How many business owners can afford to participate in this nightmare? How many companies currently hanging on by their fingernails will simply close up shop as a result of Obamacare? I’ll tell you this, when I have to take 8.5% of my net salary and spend it on something that I do not want, and then have to pay both mine and my daughters 1,500 dollar deductible and our share costs before insurance even kicks in, I will be doing a hell of a lot less discretionary spending. In fact, I will probably have to eliminate nearly all of my discretionary spending and cut back on some of my necessities if I want to continue to save for retirement.

Why has there been no discussion about this? Where is the media on this coming disaster? How many small businesses cease to exist because folks simply have no money left to spend? Even those with cheap-o bronze plans that are heavily subsidized will have to cough up co-pays and deductibles, along with whatever monthly fee share they still have to pay for insurance, leaving them with that much less to ‘consume’. Joe Six-Pack will no longer be able to afford Wednesday night bowling and beers with the Boyz, and Suzy Q. Public will have to figure out how to do without her monthly visit to the hairdresser and nail salon. I don’t know about the rest of you, but I see a disaster in the making and it isn’t going to be pretty. Some will say “But the money is being spent in to the economy and look how many jobs are going to be created”. My response to that is to say, “Look at Medicare, Medicaid and other government programs”. Those programs are rife with fraud, waste and misallocation of resources. I work nearly exclusively in and on federal government ands military installations so I see it every single day. It is clear that some will profit quite heavily, but the majority of Americans will be screwed. Of course the Congress, the people who are responsible for approving this abomination, have exempted themselves and their good liberal union buddies from the pain so no worries!

The political theater surrounding the debt ceiling/budget/Obamacare debacles is only getting more stupid as the days pass. I actually hope they crater the fucker so we can start over, and at the same time, have a reason to go out to collect some heads on a stick. I can think of a few hundred we can start out with.

This whole attitude of “punish the people” is going to wake some people up that have been blissfully ignorant of the real Obama and drunk on hopium. Parks employees were told to “make this as painful as possible”. Experimental cancer therapies that were showing promise have been cancelled, yet there is still money to give half a billion to PBS and cash for 20 assistants to the first lady. There is money to pay EXTRA guards to make sure no one crosses government barricades at monuments on an open mall, but none for disabled veterans. I sure am glad Big Bird is “critical” for the People of The United States, because God forbid Sesame Street were to go black and kids were forced to do the unthinkable and fucking play outside instead of rot in front of the television. This arrogant jackass actually believes this presidency is beneath him, at least this is how he appears to me. He is a petulant little whiner who thinks everyone should blindly agree with him on every subject and just let him rule as he sees fit. The constitution means nothing to him, nor does the Bill of Rights, which he has subverted in every way possible to further his own agenda.

We are no longer a nation of free men. We have devolved in to a nation of men who are entitled to free stuff, yet we are not free to opt out of receiving them, nor are we permitted to opt out of paying for free shit to others who despite producing nothing, are all eligible to receive the same raft of “free” stuff. We can’t seem to figure out that these hucksters and hustlers we call congressmen are the problem not the solution. Still, we vote the incumbents back in, forgive them their lies and forgive them their strings of broken promises because this time it will be different. This time they will not bend to the will of “K Street” over the will of their constituents. This time, they will do the right thing and end all of these pointless and unwinable wars. This time they will withdraw our imperial forces from the over 800 bases around the world where we are neither needed nor wanted. This time they will vote to remove the federal government from our children’s lives and permit folks to decide where and how they wish to educate their children. This time they will collectively act to protect my right to keep and bear arms over the objections of a few mindless liberal idiots who think we can create a utopia here if we just take away everybody’s guns. This time they will actually require enforcement of our immigration policies and immediately begin deportation of tens of millions of illegal aliens, many of whom are criminals. These people continue to be elected not because they have done or will do the right thing. They are reelected because they promise more and more free shit. The low/no information voters vote for them because often times, they are the recipients of all the free shit in the first place.

Perhaps it is time to return to the idea of only permitting the productive elements in our society to vote. Perhaps those on perpetual welfare and food stamps have no business voting since they tend to vote not on principle, but selfishness, greed and sloth. There are far too many people who as a matter of course pay zero federal tax, yet these same people are the ones complaining the loudest that they deserve more “entitlements”.

America sets a standard for poverty that in some countries is viewed as great wealth. Our poor have television sets [often multiple], cellular phones [again, often multiples], cable television and high speed internet, automobiles [often multiple], air conditioning, nice clothing and shoes, free education [including free breakfast and lunch for their out-of-wedlock kids], subsidized rents, food stamps, WIC benefits, child care assistance, free medical care [while it’s not the greatest, it is still free], free prescriptions, free eye glasses and dental care, and so many other things that it is impossible to list them all without screaming out loud. Our view of things ion our society has become warped. The productive among us who manage to produce more than we need and effectively save for our futures are now viewed by many as the enemy and the cause of our social ills. We are seen as “privileged”. We are seen as greedy when we decry the strip mining of our paychecks to benefit people who do not want to lift themselves up from the “poverty” within which they dwell. We are called terrorists when we fight those who would disarm us, even though lawful gun owners are the demographic least likely to engage in any kind of violent crime. Because we hold to our Christian beliefs and teach our children the same, we are called extremists and worse. Because we do not grovel at the feet of liberals and their fanatical vision of a society peppered with LGBT’s, dominated entirely by women, blacks and other “minorities”, I am a selfish, privileged white male who does not appreciate the gift of this “privilege” therefore it should be taken away from me. Apparently, I have spent my entire life holding these people back from success, so a huge portion of all government spending has been carved out for them and I am now excluded from participating in it.

Quite honestly I am sick to fucking death of the lot of them. I’m sick of the lies, secrecy, hate-mongering and outright viciousness of this administration and fear that the damage they have done to our republic may be permanent. I listen to the likes of Harry Reid, Maxine Waters, Barbara Boxer, Diane Feinstein and wonder how someone can become so completely warped and out of touch with reality, and how they can harbor such a deep and incredible hate for people like us? What must have happened to these people in their lives that they believe that a two class society really is the best way and that if they destroy the middle class we will all be better off for it. Make no mistake about it folks, these ultra liberals believe just that, and they are working overtime to try and make sure it happens. One look at liberal enclaves like Illinois, Washington D.C. and California for the vision of what these people want America to look like.

I’m seriously in need of a vacation, and I don’t mean a week. I need something like six weeks away from this insanity and I need it now. I really don’t want to und up in some clock tower taking out random fuckers because I probably won’t like the food they serve on death row, but if I don’t get away soon I may just walk away from it all. This government shutdown has seriously screwed up my entire business and it’s become a huge pain in my ass. Out of sheer spite, we were told that at 11:a.m. Monday morning, everyone had to be off of Kennedy Space Center, Patrick Air Force Base and Cape Canaveral Air Force Station. We were told this in an e-mail that no one read because it came on Saturday, after everyone was already home enjoying their weekend. We were never told that we wouldn’t be able to demobilize equipment and materials, and we were never given notice that anything would stop besides production that required government inspection. Now, at least at the last count, we have three quarters of a million dollars worth of owned equipment and about $12,000 dollars a month worth of rented man-lifts and related equipment trapped out there with no possibility of recovering either the equipment or the cost of rentals and lost production. Now, even if I wanted to dip in to some commercial work to replace the lost revenue from the .Gov work, I cannot.

Sometimes I feel like I just can’t catch a fucking break.

Thanks Obama!

Sorry about the rant. :flushed:

Is it just me or is this Thursday?

Anyway, I'm glad you're not going with the clock tower idea because death row food is high in fats and low in alcohol so it's really bad for your heart. The vacation idea sounds good. Nobody ever feels like they should have spent more time at work when they get to the end of the line. Grab that daughter and go to Disneyworld!

Wow, Ancona !! This is your best rant ever, and they are all great. Thanks !

CONGRATULATIONS ANCONA!!!! maybe this post was your 2500th post (I am getting confused) and according to the PMBug website you have now reached the DIAMOND Level of posters (or something like that) and have access to um, well, nothing that I can find still searching the website, but I am hoping that PMBug (whoever you are) is right now working on an appropriate prize for you because 2500 is a really big number and somebody ought to acknowledge it other than me. I didn't notice but did your bug change to supporter which sounds like clothing? Anyway, hopefully this will cheer you up!

Is it just me or is this Thursday? :
That is how pissed our friend is.

That might just be your best rant, and there have been some real doozies already.

Do you ever submit these to other sites like ZH, or even some sort of paper/internet news op ed? Maybe Drudge, Alex Jones, or Michael Savage might run it. Seriously, this is intense stuff.

He can always put them on my site...he's a member there too. I might have to start linking them from there myself.

FYI, science/techies kinda feel the same way, mostly - the ones who pay any attention to what's going on sure do. They are in general, mad as hell.

I recently had the great good fortune of hosting a physicist fellow (world recognized) here for a week of fun and trading our knowledge. I showed him what's going on here and he was completely shocked we hadn't gone down to DC and personally beat crap out of those idiots. After a week of being here, he understood about "sheeple". Evidently they don't have so many where he comes from.

Sorry about the rant. :flushed:

First off, DO NOT BE SORRY ABOUT THE RANT. Just be sorry, due to the stupidity of the electorate who elected this abomination, that you have time on a WEDNESDAY to even write a rant.

At one time only land owners could vote. When a voter has a dog in the fight, they vote very conservatively. Today's voters don't own anything and don't pay taxes, so they have nothing to lose no matter how they vote. We really need to return to the time when your money, your property, and your livelihood are DIRECTLY dependent upon how you vote.

Yes, you NEED a vacation. Take your family and go hide somewhere away from the hassles of real life.

Why has there been no discussion about this? ...

Some members here know me from my participation on other sites where I am not shy about discussing politics, economics or "my unique viewpoint". I can tell you that there has been plenty of discussion since 2008 on these topics. I've really gotten to the point where I'm rather numb to all. I can see the beyond the handwriting on the wall. I can see the gears turning in the machine. But it's like I'm in a huge auditorium and when I yell anything, only a handful of people can hear me - sort of like when someone gets mugged in broad daylight in NYC and a crowd of people don't even stop to stare, much less help - they just walk on by and hope not to get involved. This country unfortunately socializes an aversion to real responsibility in people. People are content to leave everything to the nanny state - well, the ones who are asleep anyway. Not enough people are awake yet apparently. Thinking takes effort. It's unpleasant to anyone not trained to do it. Independent, critical thought that pierces beyond the veil of the MSM theater can lead to dark places that many people, who are intellectually capable of going, are psychologically incapable of accepting. Prepare thy anus for the coming zombie hordes. It's not going to be pretty when Rome finally burns:

That statement kind of encapsulates where we are socially. i know far too many people who while good people in their own right, simply cannot envision a world without Uncle Sugar. They depend on government services for such a large portion of their lives that without them, they would completely flounder. The federal government worker unions are a fine example of a huge group of people with way too many privileges. These workers have demanded and received so many perks and freebies that it boggles my mind. In the mid nineties a program was instituted [at least at the Space Center it was] where instead of using your full lunch hour to eat and chill, if you use half an hour to exercise, or just walk a loop down the street and back, it resulted in an hour of comp time, to be used as one saw fit. If you wanted, you could save it up and take vacation with it. i have a guy I work with that takes a 6 week paid vacation with his comp time each year and saves his three weeks paid .gov vacation to cash out in four years when he retires. He has saved vacation since about 1995, so with the vacation pay alone, he'll have a hell of a chunk. When I question the wisdom of some of these programs, I am met with sheer hatred and derision. These are sacred cows that probably cannot be taken away, so we keep on paying for them. This is why it is three times as expensive for uncle Sugar to get something done.

I know a couple that is fervently conservative, Hannity enthusiasts, devout christians, anti-Obamacare to the core, and it turns out they have a young nephew with a speech problem and he's getting free speech therapy in school (government program). They were telling me how great this is, and I asked them if they saw anything inconsistent about accepting the help, and they looked kind of sheepish and said, "well, what were we supposed to do?"

From Star Wars: "It's a trap" :flail:

Aubuy,
I see nothing wrong with availing themselves of this service at their sons school. They are tax paying Americans and have paid for it already. To take advantage of something for which you have paid is not an issue with me. It is the people who contribute nothing yet demand the world provide them with their entire lot in life. I have no problem with someone accepting food stamps for a couple of months if they need the assistance as a result of a job loss, health issues or whatever. It's the people who see it as a badge of honor to game the system and get whatever they can get away with and have no shame in it.

When I was a kid, no one spoke openly about food stamps because it was a disgrace to accept them. Those who had them would travel to a distant market to buy groceries because it was so embarrassing. Now, it's a sub-culture badge of honor.

I guess the point I was trying to make is that these type of programs are seductive and ubiquitous. The people I spoke with are fiercely anti-Obamacare, they live in North Dakota, and are independent farmers who know how to take care of themselves. They were giving me a rant about how bad Obamacare was going to be after telling me how great the speech therapy program was, and I asked them what was the difference? You don't have a say about your school providing the program. It's all dictated by law and everybody pays for it. You don't get to say "hey, I don't want to pay for speech therapy at my local elementary school, I want to pay for more sex education"

Aubuy,
I think the difference is that their son was likely being given one-on-one help, whereas Obamacare is sort of like treating cattle in a stock yard as goes their approach to health care.

That said, you are mostly right when you assert that we don't have any real say in how our education tax dollars are spent, because just as with our government, school boards are elected officials who are supposed to "represent" their constituents, in this case, parents. What they do relative to what they promise to do during their campaigns are quite often two completely different things. This is why i pulled my kid out of public school and placed her in a private one. We have a parent council that decides how every nickel is allocated. Since we're a non-profit, salaries are kept to what we believe are reasonable levels and classes all have a maximum of 16 students. Our ideal student teacher ratio is 12, but we're a little flexible there.

After two years of good reviews and good student grades, our teachers are paid 920 a week, which is 200 a week more than public schools, but somehow our cost per student is less than two thirds of a public school, even when all costs are added. I'll admit that we do receive some pretty sizable gifts from time to time that help defray some costs. Our entire network of 60 student and 14 teacher computers was free, as were the servers. We trade free education for a student for her fathers services as IT guru, which works out well for everyone. We also trade education for the three new roofs we received and for the asphalt slurry seal job last winter for our two and a half acres of pavement.
