The Fed seems committed to preventing economic implosion, so inflation appears to be the plan. $.02

You mean, what the Elites WANT, or what is actually going to come of this?

What the Elites WANT, is a combination of China's Social Credit tyranny, with digital money to enforce it. The Great Reset is to level everything, to wipe out sovereign and corporate debt, so they can start with a clean slate, and start any damn way they want. Without meddlesome carping by the proles and peons.

What is going to HAPPEN, is a failure of the currency, similar to Wiemar, to France under John Law's scheme, to Venezuela. There will be chaos and almost-certainly civil war.

Prior to that, it appears Von Mises had it correct - a crack-up boom. It's taking so long because there's no Flight-To-Safety in other nations' currencies or investments - the dollar is still the cleanest dirty shirt in the wash-pile. The safest place is Russia right now, but only because they've escaped the societal madness the whole of the West is suffering. Russia as a place to store wealth and invest in industry, is safer but not safe - they do not have a long track record of political or economic stability, and theirs is not a true democracy. The Russians are not recognized as having rights, but are only being currently extended civil liberties.

What is going to happen is what always happens when the stupid and insane take over government. What happened to Rome. What happened to the Third Reich.

Yeah I think inflation until thing get out of control then depression.

I vote hyper. Read the book "Where Money Goes To Die" about Weimar right after the Great War. It's very sobering.

Buy gold.

Don't drop the ball. Got to keep it moving.

If there is an end game, it might be the introduction of a CBDC. As to how it would happen...... :dontknow:

If you read through the tin foil hat thread and read some of the IMF & BIS posts, you'll see they have been working towards it for some time now.

Retail CBDC will be introduced as an option at first and there will be incentives to start using it - probably even free money benefits for opening your CBDC account. Australia is already experimenting with this:

Hyperinflation Is A feature, Not A Bug! How Did We Get Here?

Oct 26, 2024 AEGINA

Hyperinflation is the natural end of all fiat money. How did we get from real money made out of gold and silver to paper money full of promises backed by nothing?

I visit the island of Aegina Greece where the first coins in Europe were made from silver. I look at the history of coins made from gold, silver and electrum, to where we are now in the US with the US Dollar backed by nothing and a surging national debt that can never be paid off. Are we destined for hyperinflation like all other world currencies backed by nothing?

Is there anything you can do to protect yourself from this inflation?

Having been through this before, I, and others, know what to expect.

In an upheaval, especially a market-bubble popping, there's panic. Leveraged investors have to come up with cash to cover margins. In a crisis, you don't sell what you want; you sell what you can, what there's buyers for.

That means, those who are only peripherally in gold, will sell the gold. DOWN goes the price.

And out come the paper-promoters, who point and scream, how it proves that gold is not an inflation hedge or stable asset. Sure, buy more DERIVATIVES! That's the answer...

There will be a blowoff top in everything then pop goes the weasel and the music stops. Everything will go down and real estate will lock up for years.

I can't see real-estate "locking up." Sales (transfers) are gonna happen, because life happens.

Old people die. Middle-aged people get old. Children become adults and need homes, of some sort...living in your parents' home doesn't work if you're trying to have children yourselves. And simply not being able to, builds pressure like a sealed can on a hot stove.

What IMHO will happen will be, real-estate prices will crash. Because borrowing will become impossible - lending standards jacked, after large numbers of defaults, and government bailouts (and bail-ins, count on it) and of course, the (political) consolidation of the "banking" "industry." Getting a home loan will become political; and there's only so many that can be part of that favored group.

Real estate will be transferred in other ways. The most-obvious will be, sheriff's sales. I suspect - IF we do NOT have some sort of tyrannical Capital Controls that make holding cash (in banks, even) or transacting in cash (or out of bank accounts) we'll have a LOT of bargains being sold. Not to say they're great buys - these will be basically structures and properties abandoned for some years, probably with neighborhood issues. Especially if many have gone vacant in that immediate area.

Then, private land contracts. I remember when these became fashionable in the 1980s, but then just sorta slipped off the radar. There's tremendous risks to both sides - and now, we're becoming a Low-Trust society; but ways will be found, maybe for this method. Some sort of escrow agent or middleman to hold both sides to their terms.

What will not happen, cannot happen, is a "lockup." Somehow, land will be transferred - even if by abandonment and squatter occupancy.
