Of the choice: Cats.

Dogs are utterly dependent on humans. Even their wild cousins, wolves, depend on abundance of meat, usually of mens' herds of cattle.

Wolves may survive, in smaller numbers. Dogs have lost the instincts that wolves retain - without man to care for them, they die off as genetic defects.

Cats, on the other hand, are just wild animals. Who chose to ignore humans, or who have learned to use humans to retrieve easy food and free shelter.

Feral cats survive. Not happily, but they will probably make it in small numbers. With evolutionary changes in behaviors. Their kissin' cousins, cougars, do fine without one bit of help from Man.

Hummmmm —
I guess I shoulda provided moar choices…
Well...cockroaches will survive as long as there's other organic material.

But I try not to think about cockroaches.

For that matter, I try not to think about Hellow Kitty surviving me after a nuclear strike...both of us in the house...me dead, her, alive...and needing dinner.
