IMHO...barring a nuclear strike, the collapse is gonna be slo-o-ooooowwww....
Like the destruction of civilized society up to now. There was never one day where we woke up, and the streets were chaos, and filled with vagrants, and people were all driving their cars high. There was never a day when suddenly everyone started living far beyond their means...and they had no savings because suddenly, the money-printing accelerated to where inflation was twice what any savings tool paid.
There was never a day when suddenly the schools rolled out a cirriculum teaching white kids to hate themselves for the Original Sin of Race-Issm; where first graders were taught anal penetration and sodomy, and deviants asked for and got access to them, to read to them (and other activities).
It happened gradually.
This will happen gradually, too. Rome's fall was slow, until the city was sacked...and even then, the world was slow to recognize the new reality.

I had an interesting conversation with a young adult the other day. He was working the computer and television section at our local Walmart and I was looking for an I-Pod. He explained that they don't sell them any longer and that all the new devices require you to stream your music or get it from an app. I explained that I already own the CD's - that I wanted to burn them onto my computer and then rip the songs to the device like I used to do with my I-Pod.
He then said something to me that struck me as profound coming from one so young (25ish). He said that we were in the final throws of a currency collapse and that all corporations were desperately scrambling for every last dime before the music stops. I guess I didn't expect that coming from that quarter.

When the day comes that we can no longer sell long bonds, it'll go a lot quicker. We already need to roll over 10+ trillion per year. We get much more of our long term debt rolled over into short term debt, it'll get a lot harder to keep rolling it over.
We're doing the equivalent of making house payments on a credit card. There's a finite number of months one can do that.
Only hope of fixing it (read: buy more time by kicking the can some more) is with gains in productivity.

iLearned this about the iPod, long time ago. You really have to search now, and I think it's only new-old stock being sold.
And it's getting harder to get MP3 files. AND, my Eww Tube stripper, to steal audio...was just "updated" to stop working with Rumble, which is a better source than Gurgle Tube.
It gets worse. You can't even buy a GPS device for your car, now, that doesn't have to pair with your phone. Well, I can still read maps - I suppose the next step is to BAN MAPS.
This Hellscape society cannot crash soon enough.

Thanks. I purchased an $80 one last week and returned it because my computer wouldn't see it as a drive.
Just purchased another one for $28 that I think will work. Waiting for it to be delivered to find out.
I just want to rip CDs onto my hard drive and be able to drag and drop them into playlists on the I-Pod so that I am not just stuck listening to radio when I am on my tractors. And the music that I listen to isn't very mainstream so I don't know if I could even stream it in the first place.
Both Microsquish and the Fruit Company have programmed their OSs to not see those things. The Fruit Company especially...they want you to use THEIR stuff, and if you can't, then you have to do without.
One reason iDumped perfectly-good iMacs (that is, they weren't too old or damaged) was, they couldn't read external hard drives. I had to get a patch program just to read them. They WOULD NOT write on them. Maybe that's just as well, given the goofy double-fork coding that MacOS uses.
Flash drives were hit-and-miss. They were a new thing the last time I walked among the fruits.
Windoze, much the same. They looked at Steve Jobs' business model, for MacOS, and thought it pretty-good-fine. Like AOL long time ago, keep the sheeple-user penned in, dependent on the company's provided food/software.
I don't know what you're using, but search for a patch program. If you can't find one, take an old computer (not an old iMac, because THOSE cannot take other-people's-coding well) and load it with Linux. There, you probably will have no problem, unless there's a firmware issue with the box you use.
