Corporate America has suddenly decided to stop blowing money on AI

Companies across the country are coming around to a radical idea with the potential to upend the industry powering the global economy: They don’t have to blow their budgets on AI.

Fed up with ballooning costs, companies big and small are starting to use lower-priced models, including some built in China. In many cases, they are adding the new, cheaper models alongside OpenAI and Anthropic’s products, shopping a la carte for their artificial intelligence.

The AI bubble is far worse than I thought...

Nvidia is reportedly on the hook for $5 T worth of circular financing loans for its customers

Keep in mind, at the height of this bubble $NVDA's fiscal 2026 earnings is only $120 B

2000 bubble on steroids

The math ain't mathing....

Your Peco bill could increase because of new hyperscale AI data centers. Here's how.

If you give a computer a task, it’s going to need electricity to perform it. The more difficult the problem, the more resources it requires. This is at the heart of the fight against the data centers behind AI – often an incredibly complex and power-hungry process.

You might think that tech giants that build and use data centers would cover 100% of the costs. However, the knock-on repercussions of this heavy power drain could impact the amount you owe on your Peco bill. Let us explain.

What is a "Peco bill"?
Apparently Peco is the name of a utility company in Pennslyvania.
....and Bill is the guy they send to their customers to tells 'em how much they owe Peco.

I had to look it up.

What is a "Peco bill"?

It's an electric / gas bill people in my part of the state get.

My bill for June was 161.83 =
- electric 109.67
- gas 52.16

My new bill is about 30.00 higher. Probably due to the A/C. It was pretty hot here during that time period.

You can check out some sample bills here:

Come winter my bills will get higher due to gas. Heater, hot water heater, stove are all natural gas. I like the house warm in winter and I use the oven a lot.

yous ain't gonna get the answer from searcher

If you look at the Flock cameras, this AI stuff, ICE, along with other stuff (dyodd) and put them in a jar, shake the jar up and pour it out you may have the makings of an orwellian dystopia.

AI Companies Are Buying—And Destroying—Antique Books. Here’s Why.

Aug 18, 2026 Forbes Topline
Authors, archivists, historians and bibliophiles have launched an online war against tech giants and artificial intelligence developers after an increasing mountain of evidence shows they’re buying rare and antique books en masse and feeding them to large language models—only to slice off their spines and destroy the original print copies in the process.

ICE doesn't have anything to do with that. All they are doing is trying to enforce the laws that have been on the books for decades, and that no one ever used to complain about them doing.

Saw that too and was gonna post it, but you beat me to it.

Imo, it's kinda f'ed up for them to be doing that. Especially when most books are already in digital format. There's no real need for them to destroy actual books to do that.
