Today's drop was one of those strange ones again where it almost suddenly dropped like there were no bids. Is this rumor what caused it?
 
Initial margin being turned back to what it was coming into the week would be a non-event.
 
^ True, but it wouldn't take 3 days to do that. If the rumor is true, it's going to be more than that.

I don't think the CME wants prices lower at this time. There is enough supply around 1800 that I doubt they would press the issue here. More likely, 1860-1880 area.
