This is wild. We have been lied to about everything

We were told chicken is a health food, we’ve been told it’s what we should all be eating

According to nutrient density information by multiple sources including the USDA, it ranks nearly dead last. Here’s the order for nutrient dense meat (generally)

- Beef (especially grass-fed; high in protein, zinc, iron, B vitamins, creatine)
- Lamb (often tops lists for nutrient density per serving; excellent fats, minerals, B vitamins)
- Bison (very lean, high protein, strong mineral profile; frequently #1 or #2 vs. others)
- Venison (lean, nutrient-packed game meat; high vitamins/minerals per calorie)
- Fish (varies: fatty fish like salmon excel in omega-3s; high in protein/selenium)
- Pork (good protein/minerals but often ranks below ruminants; varies by cut)

And all the way at the bottom is chicken:

- Chicken is excellent for lean protein but generally much lower in key micronutrients and fats compared to all the above

One of the big reason we switched from mainly eating mainly beef and other meats is marketing from major companies like Tyson

Chicken was historically more of a delicacy or seasonal food in the US, not everyday staple like beef or pork. Mid-20th century campaigns by companies like Tyson and others successfully repositioned it as a cheap, healthy, everyday “lean protein” alternative

Marketing played a major role in shifting consumer habits, emphasizing health and nutrition angles while industrial production scaled up dramatically. This was classic marketing to expand market share

'Hopeless' country gives Trump the comeuppance he so richly deserves | Opinion​

There's a moment in every public figure's life that distills who they really are into a single, unforgettable image. For Donald Trump at the World Cup trophy ceremony, that moment came when he couldn't resist photobombing Spain's victory celebration.

Let's be clear about what happened: After presenting the trophy to Spanish captain Rodri, Trump positioned himself prominently center stage as the team prepared for their historic trophy lift. FIFA President Gianni Infantino and Rodri had to gently nudge him out of the shot. He didn't take the hint gracefully. He lingered. He loomed. And then, in what became the most fitting ending to the moment, both FIFA and Spain's official accounts cropped him completely out of the celebratory photos that were shared around the world.

House passes $1.15 trillion defense spending bill​

The House passed a more than $1 trillion annual defense bill on Wednesday, moving the unusually contentious measure forward after it earlier stalled in both chambers.

The bill, known as the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA), passed by a 216-212 vote. The House mostly voted along party lines, with Democrats overwhelmingly voting against the measure, citing their objections to President Donald Trump’s war in Iran.

Opinion: It can happen here: When satire becomes a battle plan​

The headlines of the past week recalled two political satires with chilling relevance: Sinclair Lewis’s 1935 novel “It Can’t Happen Here” and Christopher Buckley’s 1986 “The White House Mess.”

Lewis’s dark satire takes readers through an authoritarian takeover of the United States. Buckley’s novel opens with a pajama-clad president who refuses to vacate the White House when his successor arrives for the inauguration.

Satire uses humor and exaggeration to make a point about societal folly. But the actual news coming out of Washington suggests that both Lewis and Buckley’s fantasies may not have been exaggerating enough.

Last week, President Trump escalated his claims that the 2020 election was a fraud, invoking a similar playlist of “rigged,” “stolen,” and “deep state.” Much of the media attributed the speech to Trump’s obsession with the past.
