Trump suffered 'mental anguish' from disputed CBS News interview with Harris, lawyer says​

NEW YORK (AP) — President Donald Trump suffered “mental anguish” from CBS News' editing of a “60 Minutes” interview with Democratic opponent Kamala Harris last fall, his lawyers are arguing in court papers.

Trump's status as a “content creator” was also damaged by attention given to the interview, lawyers said. It was part of their argument opposing CBS parent Paramount Global's effort to dismiss the president's $20 billion lawsuit against the company, filed Wednesday in U.S. District Court in Amarillo, Texas. Trump has claimed the editing was done to advantage Harris, which CBS rejects.

Donald Trump is becoming disillusioned​

Long before Donald Trump ever ran for office, he had a thing for Russian President Vladimir Putin. Way back in 2007, he told CNN's Larry King: “Look at Putin — what he's doing with Russia — I mean, you know, what's going on over there. I mean this guy has done — whether you like him or don't like him — he's doing a great job in rebuilding the image of Russia and also rebuilding Russia period.” And he's always been pretty clear on specifically what that meant. In his 2011 book called "Time To Get Tough: Making America #1 Again," he wrote:

Putin has big plans for Russia. He wants to edge out its neighbors so that Russia can dominate oil supplies to all of Europe. Putin has also announced his grand vision: the creation of a ‘Eurasian Union’ made up of former Soviet nations that can dominate the region. I respect Putin and the Russians but cannot believe our leader allows them to get away with so much – I am sure that Vladimir Putin is even more surprised than I am. Hats off to the Russians.”

It's possible, of course, that Trump's ghostwriter put that in, but assuming he ran it past Trump, it appears that at least back then, Trump understood Putin's larger ambitions and didn't seem to have a problem with them. In recent years, he's been much more cagey about Putin's long term plan, blaming "the West" and NATO and even blaming Ukraine for failing to give Putin everything he wanted without a fight.

The source of the dispute: Bonnie’s bathroom habits.

Dog defecation and concerns over cleanliness can be hot-button issues in Philadelphia, with residents expressing frustration that some owners leave on the street stinky monuments commemorating their canines’ bowel movements. There is even a lucrative market for “poop scoopers” in the region.

And dog waste isn’t just an ill-scented annoyance. The Philadelphia Water Department urges dog owners to be vigilant about scooping because dog waste is a pollutant.

This is new. It’s not how he talked for most of his long and voluble life. He has always, it should be said, seen himself as special, and he has always, of course, been notably self-aggrandizing. But the longtime self-described “fatalist” invariably maintained a sort of shoulder-shrugging acceptance that whatever was going to happen was beyond his or anyone else’s control. Over the last 10 or so months since Butler, however, and especially since his reelection and the start of his second administration, Trump’s outlook has shifted in essence from stuff happens and nothing much matters to something happened and it couldn’t matter more. His rhetoric has gone from borderline nihilistic to messianic.

Japanese village that built California's fishing industry could become container storage​

From the turn of the 20th century to the early 1940s, a human-made island in San Pedro Bay held a flourishing Japanese American fishing village that helped develop Southern California’s mighty seafood industry.

On Terminal Island, more than 3,000 first- and second-generation immigrant fishermen from Japan, the issei and nisei, pioneered innovative techniques, like 6-foot bamboo poles and live bait, to catch albacore tuna and sardines. Their wives cleaned and packaged their bounties in the canneries.

Then, during World War II, the entire community was uprooted and the village razed. The only remnants of the enclave are a pair of vacant buildings on Tuna Street, now dwarfed by colorful stacks of shipping containers and large green cranes that cover the island.

Late Saturday night, Trump, 78, shared a Truth Social post claiming his former political opponent, Biden, 82, was killed in 2020 and replaced by a clone – unbeknownst to Democrats.

“There is no #JoeBiden–executed in 2020,” the post reads.

The post goes on to claim that the real Biden was replaced by “clones doubles & robotic engineered soulless mindless entities” and that “Democrats don’t know the difference.”

Trump’s supporters were quick to get behind his message, some sharing side-by-side memes of Biden claiming “these are not the same people,” and others egging on Trump for “trolling.”

The robotic meat-puppet was not the Biden of past. His brain was gone - it was obvious.

It's akin to saying, your father died with his stroke; what was left, vegitating in a hospital bed, was just a husk.

Same idea. BIDEN didn't commit election fraud. He didn't facilitate a 40-million-strong invasion. He didn't give hundreds of trillions to NGOs to undercut the nation's borders and upend law-and-order.

His controllers did that. As is coming out now, the vegetable didn't have a clue what was going on. At the VERY LEAST, his Eva-Peron wife knew and aided and abetted - SHE needs to be hanged on national television.

But it wasn't Biden. Of course the SAME Leftists are going to distort and mock Trump's assertion.

It’s not easy being a Democrat in these Trumpian times, as each day brings fresh tales of conquest and pillage.

Still, despite all that, 4,000 stiff-upper-lipped partisans showed up in Anaheim over the weekend, seeking solace, inspiration and a winning way forward.

As mouse-eared pilgrims plied the sidewalks outside, the party faithful — meeting several long blocks from Disneyland — engaged in their own bit of escapism and magical thinking.

“Joy is an act of resistance,” state party Chairman Rusty Hicks gamely suggested at a beer-and-wine reception, which opened the party’s annual three-day convention with as much conviviality as the downtrodden could muster.

That's certainly one way to cope.

DHS says FEMA head was joking when he said he wasn’t aware of hurricane season​

Acting Federal Emergency Management Agency Administrator David Richardson was joking when he said at a meeting Monday that he was not aware of the upcoming hurricane season, the Department of Homeland Security said in a statement.

Reuters reported that Richardson said at a briefing that he was not aware the United States has a hurricane season, confusing staffers. The report, which said it was unclear if Richardson was serious or joking, cited four unnamed sources familiar with the situation.

“Despite meanspirited attempts to falsely frame a joke as policy, there is no uncertainty about what FEMA will be doing this Hurricane Season. FEMA is laser focused on disaster response, and protecting the American people,” a spokesperson for DHS said. The spokesperson added that Richardson is “activated in preparation for Hurricane Season.”

Trump privately complains about Amy Coney Barrett and other Supreme Court justices he nominated​

President Donald Trump has privately complained that the Supreme Court justices he appointed have not sufficiently stood behind his agenda, according to multiple sources familiar with the conversations. But he has directed particular ire at Justice Amy Coney Barrett, his most recent appointee, one of the sources said.

The behind-closed-doors grievances have been wide-ranging, and while many have been about Barrett, Trump has also expressed frustration about Justices Neil Gorsuch and Brett Kavanaugh, the sources familiar with the matter said. The complaints have gone on for at least a year, the sources said.

The president’s anger, sources said, has been fueled by allies on the right, who have told Trump privately that Barrett is “weak” and that her rulings have not been in line with how she presented herself in an interview before Trump nominated her to the bench in 2020.

“It’s not just one ruling. It’s been a few different events he’s complained about privately,” a senior administration official told CNN.

Now, let's see. I have a brother who dug trenches for an electrical contractor and who worked in the back room of a television-repair shop.

While getting a degree in Computer Sciences, and later working with a Fortune-500 company later absorbed by one of the tech monoliths.

He's unemployed, now. That's what tends to happen to IPO millionaires as they get into their sixties. So, what was he? A ditch-digger?
