Chauncey Billups, others arrested in FBI probe linking NBA to Mafia gambling ring

  • Miami Heat guard Terry Rozier and Portland Trail Blazers head coach Chauncey Billups were arrested in Florida as part of a gambling investigation.
  • Former NBA player Damon Jones was also arrested as part of the probes.
  • The NBA said that Rozier and Billups “are being placed on immediate leave from their teams, and we will continue to cooperate with the relevant authorities.”
More than 30 people, including NBA head coach Chauncey Billups and player Terry Rozier, have been arrested as part of federal investigations into gambling and “sports rigging” operations linked to multiple major crime families, law enforcement leaders said Thursday.

“We are here in New York to announce a historic arrest across a wide, sweeping criminal enterprise that envelops both the NBA and La Cosa Nostra,” FBI Director Kash Patel said at a news conference in Brooklyn, New York.

I don't know what Bannon's problem is.

Trump, based on what I and others see...is barely President NOW. We're seeing Al's Hammer at work - just as with Brandon, or with Ronald Reagan 40 years ago. The signs are there.

He'll be lucky to finish his present term. And that may not be so lucky for us.

Can not vouch for the veracity of this so take it fwiw and dyodd.

Most Corrupt Series: Mitch McConnell | Bought and Paid For

Mitch McConnell has spent decades mastering Washington’s most dangerous game: power. From his early rise in Kentucky politics to his record-breaking tenure as Senate Majority Leader, McConnell has built an empire rooted in money, loyalty, and the art of obstruction. His influence reaches deep into the judicial system, corporate lobbying circles, and campaign financing networks that have shaped modern American politics. But behind the calculated smile and quiet demeanor lies a web of controversy. Critics accuse McConnell of weaponizing the Senate to protect corporate donors, stonewall democratic processes, and shield his own interests. From foreign money ties to Kentucky development deals and his wife’s family’s business connections, the questions of self-enrichment and political grift have followed him for years.
This deep dive uncovers how Mitch McConnell leveraged his power not to serve the public, but to secure legacy, influence, and wealth. The story of one man’s grip on the American government reveals how corruption can thrive — not in chaos, but in perfect order.

Constitutional Equilibrium Long Gone

In the October 23 Wall Street Journal, Peggy Noonan discusses core features of American government and ponders how President Trump fits in. She focuses on the Founders and the constitutional balance they created between the federal legislative, executive, and judicial branches.

The republic they devised produced not efficiency but equilibrium. It established not only a system but a spirit. It has seen us through for 237 years. Are we maintaining our republic? Is our equilibrium holding?
Noonan is talking about equilibrium between the branches, but that is only one structural feature of the US Constitution. Every bit as important is the constitutional balance between federal and state power, and on that front, we have been out of equilibrium for a century as the federal government grabs ever more power from the states and the people.

Weapon of war: Sexual violence against men | DW Documentary

Oct 25, 2025 #documentary #dwdocumentary #dwdocs
Sexual violence is a well-known weapon of war. One that is deployed against men, as well as women. The enemy is not killed, but destroyed nonetheless. In this documentary, men from Ukraine, Congo and Bosnia break their silence.
Most male survivors of sexual violence remain silent. So the perpetrators get away with it. Often, the perpetrators do not even have a sense of wrongdoing when they commit these war crimes.
The first men to seek justice at the International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia (ICTY) in The Hague were survivors of the Bosnian War (1992-1995). This marked a turning point.
Zihnija Bašić from Bosnia tells how he had to fight for a long time to be recognized as a war victim after his rapes. He still suffers from the abuse to this day. Oleksiy Sivak from Ukraine has since founded a self-help group. Like his friend Roman Shapovalenko, he was sexually abused by Russian occupying forces.
Masokolo Lemba from the Congo is also a member of a self-help group. Lemba fled from the war in his home country to Uganda - where survivors of sexual violence are often accused of homosexuality, which is a punishable offense in Uganda. This stigmatization and criminalization make it difficult to cope with the trauma.
Historian Regina Mühlhäuser is a member of an international research group that investigates sexual violence against men. She says: "If you want to prevent sexual violence against men in war-time, you have to fight it in peace-time. After all, prisons and the military are often breeding grounds for this violence."
Despite their fear of stigmatization and discrimination, the survivors in this film have chosen to tell their stories in order to bring this taboo topic to light.

Ex-deputy found guilty of murder in fatal shooting of Sonya Massey

PEORIA, IL – A former Illinois sheriff’s deputy was found guilty of second-degree murder on Oct. 29 in the fatal shooting of Sonya Massey, an unarmed Black woman whose killing sparked protests and a Department of Justice investigation last year.

The verdict against Sean Grayson, 31, arrived on the second day of deliberations. Grayson was charged with first-degree murder but an option for second-degree murder was added to jury instructions before deliberations began.

Pentagon readying thousands of Guard ‘reaction forces’ as U.S. mission widens

The Pentagon has ordered thousands of specialized National Guard personnel to complete civil unrest mission training over the next several months, an indication that the Trump administration’s effort to send uniformed military forces into urban centers — once reserved for extraordinary emergencies — could become the norm.

The Defense Department’s newly established “quick reaction force” within the National Guard must be trained, equipped with riot-control gear and ready for deployment by Jan. 1, according to internal documents reviewed by The Washington Post. The 200 troops will be drawn from National Guard personnel whose primary focus is responding to disasters like nuclear accidents and terrorist attacks, the documents said.
