Ex-CIA official arrested after $40M in gold bars allegedly found inside his home

A former CIA official was arrested last week after FBI agents allegedly found $40 million worth of gold bars at his home while investigating whether he lied about his educational and military background, according to court records and sources familiar with the matter.

David Rush is currently being held in jail while both his defense attorneys and federal prosecutors "gather and evaluate additional information" to assist the court in determining whether he should remain detained, court filings say. They have jointly requested to postpone his detention hearing until June 5 in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Virginia.

The guy had balls for sure.

I hesitate to turn in a lunch receipt for more than $30 on my expense report and I own the company.

How CIA officer David Rush, caught with $40M gold bars, engineered most significant financial crime in agency’s history: sources

The early morning tranquility of Snowpine Place, a residential street in upmarket Ashburn, Virginia, was suddenly shattered on May 18 by an FBI raid.

Agents in tactical gear swarmed the block of well-kept homes at 6:00 a.m., one shouting into a bullhorn, “This is the FBI. We have a warrant for your arrest. Come out with your hands up.”

A local disturbed by the commotion looked out to spot his neighbor, CIA agent David Rush, being led out in handcuffs, as reported on NBC4 Washington.

Works like "Kelly's Heroes."

You identify the gold, and where it's held. Everyone between you and that gold, you just offer a cut.

Yeah, this guy is probably a fall-guy, maybe a stooge or patsy. Maybe he's the brain; probably not.

It's on the down-low because there's almost-certainly SO MUCH culpability around...

A $40 million gold heist risks exposing CIA’s top-secret spy programs

Five decades ago, four burglars broke into a billionaire’s safe, setting off a chain of events that exposed and foiled one of the CIA’s most ambitious operations against the Soviets.

Now, Central Intelligence Agency veterans are worried that another seemingly brazen heist—this time allegedly committed by a CIA official—could expose another top-secret program, after authorities say the official walked out of his office with $40 million in gold bars.
