PARIS (AP) — French President-elect Francois Hollande is suggesting that outgoing leader Nicolas Sarkozy's government underestimated the country's budget problems.

The Socialist Hollande spoke after the European Union lowered its growth forecasts for France and the whole of the 17-country eurozone.
Hollande told reporters Friday, "I have known for several weeks that there was a greater degradation than the outgoing government said there was. We conclude that this is a confirmation."

Hollande, elected Sunday, says he wants an independent audit of the country's books.

He said the new figures do not necessarily mean he has less room to maneuver to fulfill his campaign pledges after he takes office Tuesday. "No, we had already expected this," he said in remarks shown on French television.

So, he takes a page right out of the Obama playbook. Blame the other guy......nice!

I also had the thought that Hollande is getting his first look behind the curtain and he doesn't like what he sees.

It's kind of funny how these guys all step up the rhetoric, talk a great game by slamming hte "status quo", then get inside the door and have that "oh shit!" moment when they realize it really and truly is fucked up beyond all recognition and all they can do is try and paper it over even more, because telling the people the truth would just be too painful.

Nothing to see here, move along.:rotflmbo:

Name any candidate that isn't full of hope and promises, then finds out how it really is when they actually get in - and get briefed for real. That's the first time they find out what's really behind the lies we don't even know about. Or not, depends on the 'crats agendas.

In most cases, this is "bureaucratic capture" which is similar in nature to "regulatory capture". After all, these clowns are utterly dependent on the little bean counters and button sorters to get the input to any decision - hell, to even know what to make decisions about. By simply deciding what to include and what to omit as unimportant - they have more power than the titular leader, in practice.

Heck, just having control over the order in which things are discussed is enough power to get any result you want. Arrow mentions this, and CS Lewis had some great examples in "That hideous strength" - which seems to have been prophetic the more time passes.

Imagine two agenda items. You have a horrible shortfall in funds, with nasty results if you can't do anything about it. You also have a really ugly way, probably morally suspect, to raise money. You can see you'd get different results on a vote depending on which order these are presented for consideration...

True. And why it is so? Simply, the f..n governments are WAY too big, for any human, being able to comprehend the whole scope of their responsibilities/relationships. We need the governments to be drastically downsized, power to be delegated as far down the pyramid, as practically possible (back into the hands of individuals, mostly, I'd say) Will we see that? Without revolutions? I doubt it. I am not queuing for the revolutionary army either. Just trying to prepare to survive the aftermath.

Absolutely THIS!

Bravo, sir...
