Fun fact: Woolworth's 5-and-10-cent stores

Woolworth's 5-and-10-cent store chain was founded in 1879. 10 cents remained the top price for any item in store for 53 years (until 1932).

I'm guessing most peeps here can guess why the prices had to change circa 1932. But, just for grins, here's a hint:
