Bannon Sentenced to 4 Months in Prison for Contempt of Congress

Glenn Thrush and Alan Feuer - 2h ago

WASHINGTON — A federal judge on Friday sentenced Stephen K. Bannon, a longtime adviser to former President Donald J. Trump who aided in the effort to overturn the 2020 election, to four months in prison for disobeying a subpoena from the House committee investigating the Jan. 6, 2021, attack on the Capitol.

Mr. Bannon, 68, was found guilty of two counts of contempt of Congress this summer after Judge Carl J. Nichols rejected an array of arguments offered by Mr. Bannon’s defense team, including that he was protected from being compelled to testify by executive privilege.

Mr. Bannon will remain free pending his appeal.

Nothing like blind justice to protect you... now that a precedent has been set - executive privilege is no excuse - nobody can use that as a defense any more....

How come only the Demonrats have the balls to prosecute this charge?

Donald Trump formally subpoenaed by January 6 committee

Hugo Lowell in Washington - 2h ago

The House January 6 select committee has formally transmitted a subpoena to Donald Trump, compelling the former president to provide an accounting under oath about his potential foreknowledge of the Capitol attack and his broader efforts to overturn the 2020 election.

The subpoena made sweeping requests for documents and testimony, dramatically raising the stakes in the highly charged congressional investigation and setting the stage for a constitutionally consequential legal battle that could ultimately go before the supreme court.

“Because of your central role in each element,” the panel’s chairman, Bennie Thompson, and vice-chair, Liz Cheney, wrote, “the select committee unanimously directed the issuance of a subpoena seeking your testimony and relevant documents in your possession on these and related topics.”

Most notably, the committee demanded that Trump turn over records of all January 6-related calls and texts sent or received, any communications with members of Congress, as well as communications with the far-right Proud Boys and Oath Keepers, extremist groups that stormed the Capitol.

I wonder how far this will go?

They might just regret that statement....

Will he show up? Will he fight it? Will the DOJ get involved? Even though it's the real deal it's playing out like a soap-opera.

"Days Of Trump"

Like the sands in the hourglass so are the days of Trump.

Today's episode: Subpoena

Possibly. The story on the street is they want to convict him of a process crime. It's a nonsense crime, but will keep him from running for office.

Their gas has never been a right for anyone except the Russians themselves who dispose of it freely."

A judge sentenced a Capitol rioter to more than 7 years in prison, saying he'd assaulted Officer Michael Fanone like 'he was your prey'

rbarber@businessinsider.com (C. Ryan Barber) - 2h ago

  • A judge said a Capitol rioter treated Officer Michael Fanone as "prey" and a "trophy" on January 6.
  • Judge Amy Berman Jackson sentenced the rioter to more than 7 years, or 90 months, in prison.
  • Prosecutors had recommended an 8-year sentence and showed pictures of Fanone's scarred neck.
Calling him one of the "most serious offenders," a federal judge on Thursday sentenced Capitol rioter Albuquerque Head to more than 7 years in prison for pulling then-police Officer Michael Fanone into the pro-Trump mob during the January 6, 2021 attack.

"He was your prey, he was your trophy," said Judge Amy Berman Jackson, as she ordered Head to serve 90 months in prison, with credit for the time he's served since his arrest in April 2021.

  • Ajury found former Capitol police officer Michael Riley guilty Friday of obstructing the investigation into the January 6, 2021, attack.
  • The jury could not reach a unanimous verdict on the charge related to his urging the rioter to remove posts.
  • The verdict followed the longest jury deliberation to date in a trial stemming from the January 6 attack.
A jury found former Capitol police officer Michael Riley guilty Friday of obstructing the investigation into the January 6, 2021, attack on the building he was once sworn to protect, handing the Justice Department a victory in a unique and high-profile prosecution stemming from the insurrection.

Key Proud Boys Jan. 6 co-conspirator pleads guilty, Tarrio lawyer says

Spencer Hsu, Rachel Weiner - Yesterday 8:26 PM

An accused key co-conspirator who longtime former Proud Boys chairman Henry “Enrique” Tarrio allegedly said proposed storming the U.S. Capitol on Jan. 6, 2021, has pleaded guilty in a deal with U.S. prosecutors, Tarrio’s lawyers revealed Friday.

Details of the plea emerged in a pretrial hearing as the government ratchets up pressure against Tarrio and four other defendants who face trial in December on a charge of seditious conspiracy.

During the hearing in federal court in Washington, Tarrio defense attorney Sabino Jauregui said that John Charles Stewart, 44, of Carlisle, Pa., pleaded guilty in June. Prosecutors interjected, and U.S. District Judge Timothy J. Kelly immediately halted the public session to go behind closed doors, which after resuming made no further mention of Stewart.

An article I can read and from our favorite CNN no less.

Another witness defense attorneys for Rhodes wanted to call, Greg McWhirter, the former vice president of the Oath Keepers, was revealed to be a confidential informant against the group.

The New York Times reported Thursday afternoon that McWhirter was an informant, a fact that the Justice Department confirmed in a sealed filing accidentally published on the public docket Tuesday night.

Man who blamed Trump’s ‘orders’ for Jan. 6 riot sentenced

11m ago

WASHINGTON (AP) — A federal judge on Friday sentenced an Ohio man who claimed he was only “following presidential orders” from Donald Trump when he stormed the U.S. Capitol to 3 years in prison.

Dustin Byron Thompson was convicted in April by a jury that took less than three hours to reject his novel defense for obstructing Congress from certifying Joe Biden’s presidential victory.

Then obviously, they did not buy the fairy tale that Trump told anyone to do anything illegal.

What President Trump actually told people was to PEACEFULLY and PATRIOTICLLY make their voices heard.
He also told them to stop doing what they were doing at the capitol.
....but twitter deleted it.

At no time did he tell anyone to take illegal actions.

Yet several dems directly told told their supporters to do illegal acts during his presidency, but no one in charge cared to do anything about that.

👉🏼 Journalist Julie Kelly from “American Greatness” broke the news that Gen. Mark Milley ran the show against American citizens during the Jan. 6 incident, using armed military personnel, surveillance, and intelligence collection platforms.

👉🏼 Kelly released an article titled: “What is Adam Schiff Hiding?”

👉🏼 According to an excerpt from that article:

⎯‣ The then-acting attorney general—Rosen was appointed on December 24, 2020 to replace departing Attorney General William Barr—had assembled a team of elite and highly skilled government agents at Quantico, a nexus point between the FBI and U.S. military, the weekend before Congress met to certify the results of the 2020 presidential election. [January 6]

⎯‣ At the same time he was rejecting President Donald Trump’s last-minute appeals to investigate election fraud, Rosen was managing a hush-hush operation in advance of planned rallies and protests in Washington on January 6.

⎯‣ “Rosen made a unilateral decision to take the preparatory steps to deploy Justice Department and so-called ‘national’ forces,” Newsweek reporter William M. Arkin disclosed in a bombshell report earlier this year...

⎯‣ Those assets, according to Arkin, included “commandos” with shoot-to-kill authority. And among them were members of the military.

⎯‣ Kelly is now releasing information from the Department of Defense Inspector General report which shows DOD was the lead agency in the incident. In short, the U.S. military ran the whole thing in possible violation of the Constitution. [Posse Comitatus Act]

The second article listed above also states:

"Adam Schiff tucked an amendment into the National Defense Authorization Act that would prohibit any evidence collected in violation of the Posse Comitatus Act from being used in investigations."

I mean FBI, DOJ, DOD whatever alphabet soup agency in charge does not matter. They are all anti-Americans.

From the link:

And we know that Pence knew enough not to trust some of the Secret Service agents who wanted to whisk him away from the Capitol. A lot of people have interpreted Pence’s decision to stay in the Capitol basement surrounded by security, to his courage to make sure that the job of of certifying the election got done. I have a slightly different take. I think that he knew that if he left? Things… Things may not have ended well for him.
