Correct. It is a serious issue and deserves attention. My "hype" comment was directed at what I consider to be a bit hyperbolic/hysterical language/characterization/interpretation of events. This story isn't something that materialized suddenly. It's been developing in earnest over the last two decades. If it continues, it will likely play out over several more decades. But then, I'm not trying to sell you a book I just wrote or a subscription service. Supporting pmbug.com is totally optional.
I agree...and, for what it's worth, PMB, I got on this road as an at-first reluctant online student of Walt's. We had the kinds of discussions you would expect - he, patient and genteel, me, coarse and crude and dismissive.
But I try to listen. I never change my mind quickly; but I listen, and weigh, and watch. What Walt spoke was the God's honest truth.
I believe I know what Walt is doing - these are the last minutes on the fiscal Doomsday Clock - but to me it's old hat. It cannot go any other way. And, frankly, I see a lot of eventual upside to the destruction/disappearance of the dollar.
For one thing, all these destructive government actions, STOP...DEAD. No more Forever War. No more subsidized bird-chopper windmills, and paying power plants to not produce power, but close down.
No more subsidies for Transhumanist genetic-modification Jabs. No more paying invaders to come in, camp out in 5-star hotels, and VOTE CIRCLE D. No more subsidies for unaffordable stupid battery-powered cars - with the only feature that counts to them, the remote kill switches that let Washington control freaks immobilize whole quadrants of the nation.
No more ethanol in gasoline. No more 200 injections for every newborn.
No more Bammykair. We go back to market healthcare - where I can buy a $100-a-month medical insurance policy.
Yeah, it means pain. It will mean death. It will mean the lights will flicker, as we go back to sustainable, cost-effective power.
It will mean those who depended on government stipends (antiSocial inSecurity, etc) will have to go get a job or have relatives care for them. It will mean county poor houses will again be A Thing.
In the end, though, it's a net positive - not the least of which is, it is sustainable, and FAR more just than this magic debt-creation of Fake Money to allow sociopaths to indulge their darkest and stupidest fantasies.
