Ya think I should try out that chicken I canned up fifteen years ago?Eventually we will need to toss the old, or use the food we prepped.
Sure! Why did you can it in the first place?Ya think I should try out that chicken I canned up fifteen years ago?

Care to explain how to prep and can tomatoes? Maybe do a video? The garden has been kicking out tomatoes faster than I can use them up. Another day of canning today, tallied up another 15 half pints, along with five pints, of tomato soup. This along with 13 more pints of pasta sauce.

How did the BBQ flavored powder turn out?I bought this recently:
Edit: Not so recently... Anyway, my goal was to make a BBQ flavored powder for homemade chips and other things.
I'm not there yet, still trying to get the recipe right for the BBQ flavor. Some paprika and bit of mustard is part of it, and maybe a hint of horseradish. And maybe some citric acid to replace the sour that usually comes from vinegar. How did the BBQ flavored powder turn out?
Many of us Deplorables keep a stockpile. And how it serves...can surprise one. Just two months ago, I broke my hip.No experience with canning but do keep a stockpile of canned goods. Prefer foods I would eat in normal situations and that's easy to use.
As to the vid, I have no experience with Keystone, posting as food for thought so take it fwiw and dyodd.

These guys have been around for years. It's easy to store canned veggies and fruits, but harder to find decent meats to stock up on. While I am a HUGE fan of Spam, let's be honest. It's not good for me. Keystone on the other hand cans their meats as you would at home. With only Meat and salt as the ingredients. Price wise, you can't can your own for any cheaper!

The volunteers were probably happy to help someone with difficulty. I have donated money to our town's meal service in the past. An obvious drawback is that they will plan the meals without asking you to pick from a menu, but if you aren't picky, the meals should be good.I couldn't drive a car, or walk a supermarket aisle. I could get Meals-On-Wheels, that took about five days to get going.
It's good to have a second and third plan, in case plan A hits a snag. I think a "camping meal" attitude is useful for part of the preps.I had my stores. Soups, stews, vegetables...not wonderful dinner materials, but SUSTENANCE. They were there and I could eat them.
