Only idiots would believe Trumps assassination attempt in Butler PA was staged.
A very special kind of idiot. lol

I think anybody that wants the president of the US to be assassinated is scum.
Absolutely! Anyone who wants anyone to be killed, is scum. I hated Biden as potus, but I sure as f' didn't want him to get shot.

You don't think a deranged democrat was behind it?
Who else would be? Ya calll someone "lterally Hitler!" for a Decade and eventually a braindead TDSer will try to go for it.

Liberal and Progressive AHs are convinced the assassination attempt was staged.

Rep. Hakeem Jeffries claps back at Trump press secretary, who blamed WHCD shooting on Democrats

The U.S. House of Representatives Democratic leader called Karoline Leavitt a “disgrace” and a “stone-cold liar.”

U.S. Rep. Hakeem Jeffries, D-N.Y., the Democratic leader of the U.S. House of Representatives, clapped back at White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt after the spokesperson for President Donald Trump blamed him and other Democrats for the White House Correspondents’ Dinner shooting this past weekend.

Here we have a president who berates, belittles a female reporter for simply doing here job. Want to lower the temp............let it start with T.

Searcher - there is a difference between Trump's petulant behavior and dismissive rhetoric and outright calls and thinly veiled dog whistles for assassination that Dems have promulgated over the last few months.

thinly veiled dog whistles for assassination that Dems have promulgated over the last few months

I'm a bit a news junkie and haven't come across thinly veiled dog whistles for assassination by dems. Can you point out a few?

On the other hand T has berated, belittled, called people names for no reason, laughed at Pelosi's husband after he was attacked and beaten with a hammer, relished in R Muller's death, called for violence against all sorts of people he doesn't like, started a war where people have been injured and killed against people who are no threat to the U.S. and on and on.

Not being funny or argumentative but I would like to see where any D politician has called for T's demise.

I did not bookmark them on my computer. Just noted them as I saw them. Duckduckgo AI says:

Grok:

I guess both sides are guilty. We all need to bring the temp down.

Okay but which side is doing the Shooting?

Refresh my memory I have forgotten when republicans/conservatives shot at liberal/progressive/democrats.

Both.

When it comes to politicians R and D are both guilty of the inciteful rhetoric.

As for newscasters, media peeps I don't think r or d really matters. They cater to a certain audience for $$$$$.

Now as to the actual shooters........forget r or d because you're dealing with fools and loons.

In this particular thread we're dealing with a 31 year old college educated fellow who had everything to live for. His life is now over and he will never be a free man again. And it was all for nothing. And he kinda cast a bad shadow over his family. Not good, bad juju.

Now as for me, I really don't take my political posts too seriously. It's fun to see the replies but nothing I post here will change one thing and I know it. And I realize the only say I really have is when I vote. After that I'm done.

I asked a VERY specific question which you avoided. If you respond please answer my question.

Refresh my memory I have forgotten when republicans/conservatives shot at liberal/progressive/democrats.

Only violence against Dems that I recall off hand wasn't a shooting, it was the hammer attack on Pelosi's husband.

Right and that was deranged idiot and can hardly be characterized as an attack against democrats by republicans.

But thank you for a direct answer!!!

I couldn't simply come up with this on my own so I asked Grok. Here's the reply. It's a bit of a mix.

Political violence involving gunfire where Republicans/conservatives targeted liberals/progressives/Democrats has been relatively rare in modern U.S. history compared to the reverse or other categories of violence. Most high-profile shootings of politicians or public figures in recent decades have involved attackers with left-leaning or anti-Republican motives, or unclear/mental health-driven ones not neatly fitting partisan "conservative vs. liberal" framing. Political violence overall remains uncommon relative to total U.S. crime, though threats and incidents have risen amid polarization.

Documented CasesHere are notable verified examples involving conservatives/Republicans shooting at or targeting Democrats/liberals/progressives:
  • 1998: Assassination of Tennessee State Senator Tommy Burks — Democratic state senator Tommy Burks was running for re-election when he was shot and killed by Byron Looper, a Republican who was also running against him for the seat. This was a direct political rivalry killing. Looper was convicted.

  • 2022: Solomon Peña drive-by shootings in New Mexico — Failed Republican candidate Solomon Peña orchestrated multiple drive-by shootings targeting the homes of Democratic politicians and officials after claiming his election loss was "rigged." No one was killed, but it was explicitly retaliatory political violence. He was convicted.

Other incidents sometimes cited in broader discussions (e.g., certain neighbor disputes or individual acts by self-described conservatives) tend to be personal, mental-health related, or not clearly ideologically driven "conservative shoots liberal" attacks on public figures. High-casualty mass shootings motivated by right-wing ideology (e.g., some targeting minorities or immigrants) exist but are usually not framed as direct partisan attacks on "Democrats" as a group in the same way as targeted political shootings.Broader Context on Political Shootings
  • 2017 Congressional Baseball Shooting: A left-wing radical (James Hodgkinson, vocal Trump critic) targeted Republican congressmen at a baseball practice in Alexandria, VA, shooting Rep. Steve Scalise (R) and others. This was explicitly partisan.

  • 2011 Tucson Shooting: Jared Loughner shot Rep. Gabby Giffords (D) and killed six others. Motive was complex (mental illness, conspiracy beliefs); not a clean "conservative vs. liberal" hit.
  • 2022 Paul Pelosi Attack: David DePape (with right-wing conspiracy ties) broke into Nancy Pelosi's home and attacked her husband with a hammer—not gunfire, but politically motivated.
  • 2025 Minnesota Shootings: A gunman (described in reports as a Trump supporter with conservative/Christian views) targeted Democratic state lawmakers, killing Rep. Melissa Hortman and her husband and wounding Sen. John Hoffman and his wife. He reportedly had a "hit list" of Democrats.

  • Recent trends (2024-2025): Assassination attempts on Donald Trump (Republican) drew significant attention. The 2025 killing of conservative activist Charlie Kirk was carried out by a shooter with apparent left-leaning political disagreement.

    christianpost.com
Studies on ideologically motivated homicides and terrorism in the U.S. (post-1970s/1990s data) generally show right-wing extremists responsible for more total deaths than left-wing ones over long periods, often via targeted killings, mass shootings, or plots tied to race, immigration, or anti-government views. However, left-wing violence has included more property damage, riots, or specific partisan attacks (e.g., against Republicans or police). Islamist terrorism accounts for a large share of fatalities in some datasets. Numbers are small overall, and classifications vary by source (e.g., whether to count hate crimes, lone actors, or mental illness cases). Fatalities from left-wing attacks are lower in many analyses, but incidents have fluctuated (e.g., higher left-wing activity in certain recent years).

Key Patterns
  • Asymmetry: Attacks on Republican figures (e.g., Scalise practice, Trump attempts, Kirk) often involve perpetrators with explicit anti-conservative or left-leaning grievances. Attacks flowing the other direction (conservatives targeting Democrats) are fewer in high-profile gun incidents against politicians.
  • Common factors: Mental health issues, personal grudges, conspiracy thinking, and online radicalization appear frequently on both sides. Purely "partisan soldier" shootings are exceptional.
  • Historical note: Pre-20th century or Reconstruction-era violence (e.g., KKK targeting Black Republicans or officials) involved Democrats and racial motives more than modern left-right framing. Modern data focuses on post-1990 or post-9/11 extremism.
Political violence is condemned across the spectrum and remains rare—most Americans reject it. Databases from groups like the Global Terrorism Database, ADL, CSIS, or GAO show it's a tiny fraction of overall murders. Polarization and social media amplify perceptions and threats. For deeper stats, sources like Cato Institute analyses or START/UMD extremism trackers provide longitudinal data, though definitions of "right-wing" vs. "left-wing" can differ.

As uncomfortable as it may be, it's nice when we are truthful with one another.

Thanks PMBUG!!

The first and most obvious of these concerns is that many Americans, including myself, have grown so accustomed to being deceived that we no longer know precisely whom we can trust and what we can believe. As a consequence, we’ve become inclined to doubt everything the government tells us.
TheGuardian

Most of us know that we are not hearing the full story about the war in Iran and that the true villains in the Epstein scandal have remained unindicted. We’ve watched present and former cabinet members – Pam Bondi, Kristi Noem, Robert F Kennedy Jr and others – refusing to answer direct questions during congressional hearings, inquiries that would have led to the exposure of a wide range of purposely orchestrated and deeply disturbing cover-ups and distortions.

What’s equally disturbing is how this latest incident illustrates the horrifying degree to which violence in general and political violence in particular have been normalized. Massacres and school shootings rarely make the headlines unless the body count is exceptionally high.

Again and again, our political leaders and cultural figures have been caught in lies ranging from the trivial to the catastrophic, exposed for misrepresenting the truth in ways intended to conceal previous misrepresentations.

If I could I'd copy and past the above post as a sticky here in the politics section

I couldn't agree more and this is true for all political parties.

And I'll say it again, we not being politicians, it nice when we are truthful with one another.

That had nothing to do with Vodka Nan's politics. Or even her hubby's politics.

It was a Grindr meet-up gone bad.

The difference is that the Democrats are lying and making stuff up with no proof whatsoever that he's guilty of what they are alleging. Repeating it over and over gives it an air of truth... low IQ followers are easily manipulated into action because they believe it.

They've done this since 2015.

When Trump calls the left Communists, Marxists, fascists, radical left thugs, et al he is stating facts, because that IS their behavior, be it George Floyd's riots, Antifa riots, et al.

VDH explains it quite well:
