The Vatican on Wednesday said it was preparing a series of proposals for reforming the global financial system that would include the creation of a “public authority with universal competence.”

A document entitled “For a reform of the financial system through the perspective of a public authority with universal competence” will be presented on Monday by the Vatican’s Pontifical Council for Justice and Peace.

The Vatican successfully placed Warlord Dragon (Mario Draghi) in the ECB. Pope Francis has called on world leaders to end the "cult of money" and to do more for the poor, in his first major speech on the financial crisis.

Free market economics had created a tyranny, in which people were valued only by their ability to consume, the pontiff told diplomats in the Vatican.

"Money has to serve, not to rule," he said, urging ethical financial reforms.

Ethical is towing the line, his line, in effect bowing to his wishes regardless of the consequences.

He is outlining the "new economy" where he and his minions control what you can buy and sell through controlling who can and cannot have money. Watch how this plays out. It is not good for any free economy, in particular Anglo-Saxon economies, which are being directly targeted by the Vatican.
 
I think His Holiness has been watching too many episodes of The Borgias and DaVinci's Demons and has come to be under
the impression that he's one of those omnipotent renaissance popes who can get away with whatever comes into his mind.
It wouldn't surprise me a bit if he revives such long-lost old classics as the Inquisition and celibacy for the priesthood.

Yeah well......the Vatican is probably dirtier than the Italian Mafia. They have been doing shady stuff for over a thousand years. The catholic church is a mess from the top to the bottom. The new Pope is trying to clean up five centuries of graft and corruption all at once, which only makes him a target.

I fully expect this guy to have an unfortunate accident or a well timed heart attack, because Da Boyz don't want to roll his way and would prefer to keep doing it old school just like they've been doing for a loooooong time.

Last paragraph quoted starts with a logical fallacy. It's a straw man argument.

Think the Vatican is going to be honest enough to admit that any system that fosters freedom requires personal responsibility - that a certain level of poverty and inequity will always be present and it is the price of liberty?

Hilarious... how about the Vatican? As a candidate...

They should rule the finances, after all, they have a huge fortune and a LOT of experience in gathering gold, taxes, wealth.

The Vatican should be the next IMF/WB. They should create their own currency.
