I Can Dream About You (Dan Hartman) | Lexington Lab Band

Barry Mann - Kicks (demo)

I'm not sure where I got this but I guess it circulated on Napster or on collector's CDRs at some point. I'm sure its not rare but I love how the demo compares to the Paul Revere and the Raiders version. This one makes me think Mann/Weil were going for a Motown sound where the Raiders' when straight ahead heavy rock. Genius on both parts.

Charlie Thomas Drifters' & Ben E King reunite - I Count The Tears

Charlie and Ben E. are together again in this special archival moment from my personal archives. Never-before-seen on TV.

Rock and Roll Hall of Famer Charlie Thomas and his Drifters (Louis Bailey, Stephen Brown, Jerome Manning) perform the group's 1959 hit, "Dance With Me" on stage in York, Pennsylvania in 2005. Charlie joined the Drifters in 1958 and sang on more of the group's hit records than any other vocalist. On the original recording of "Dance With Me", Ben E. King sang lead with Charlie Thomas singing tenor. The other members on the Atlantic single were Dock Green, Johnny Lee Williams, and Elsbeary Hobbs. Charlie Thomas died on January 31, 2023 at age 85.
