They certainly have the will to ask for gov control now though.
....and that's the stupid part.

I'm amazed that anyone is falling for this BS, that AI is gonna (somehow) kill us all.

Not at all.

You know about Regulatory Capture, right? This is Pre-Capture Regulation. They already KNOW they got the strings on these bureaucrats. They want them, the bureaucrats, the power - so they, the Tech Bro's, can issue their instructions from the shadows.

Heh — so yer gonna unplug ALL the computers on the internet, eh?
That's a humor.
Can you even find em all?
Anthropic's AI isn't on "every" computer. Nor is Grok, or any of the others.

They aren't saying general AI is gonna kill us all. It's the shit the big players are currently working on that they are saying will.

Wanting regulatory capture is the stupid part to which I was referring.

If the big players are saying it's going too fast, they can slow down on their own.

What they are doing is the same as if you were building something that you became concerned might kill us all.

Ie: the power is 100% in your hands to stop what you are doing. You don't need gov to tell you to stop.

In fact, to realize you are working on something that you believe would kill us all and continuing to work on it just because the gov isn't telling you to stop, is pretty fucking dumb.

Here's the big question, exactly how can a program running on a computer, kill anyone? The idea that it can, couldn't get more silly.

The big boys in AI are burning money and they know they can't continue doing that indefinitely. This fear mongering is their way of getting gov to stop their competitors so the big boys can slow down while staying on top.

I dunno; am I not communicating? They KNOW they have, or quickly can have, the regulatory stooges. Now they're starting Narratives to manufacture demand for regulation, so CONgress does it, and they'll own their regulators, right out the gate.

That gives them their moat - the isolating factor that prevents new startups. Regulation and challenges will be crafted to do just that.

ALSO to PROTECT the Flockers and Claudes, as what they gather is sold to whoever wants it, and given to police on demand. Depending, of course, on the NATURE of the demand - they love crime and the chaos it brings, but they don't want political protests or Cancelled Wepubwiccans free to walk about.

Exactly. ie: it's all bullshit. The fear mongering. Just like global warming and the coof.
