You know about Regulatory Capture, right? This is Pre-Capture Regulation. They already KNOW they got the strings on these bureaucrats. They want them, the bureaucrats, the power - so they, the Tech Bro's, can issue their instructions from the shadows.
Anthropic's AI isn't on "every" computer. Nor is Grok, or any of the others.
They aren't saying general AI is gonna kill us all. It's the shit the big players are currently working on that they are saying will.

In fact, to realize you are working on something that you believe would kill us all and continuing to work on it just because the gov isn't telling you to stop, is pretty fucking dumb.
Here's the big question, exactly how can a program running on a computer, kill anyone? The idea that it can, couldn't get more silly.

I dunno; am I not communicating? They KNOW they have, or quickly can have, the regulatory stooges. Now they're starting Narratives to manufacture demand for regulation, so CONgress does it, and they'll own their regulators, right out the gate.
That gives them their moat - the isolating factor that prevents new startups. Regulation and challenges will be crafted to do just that.

I'm actually finding this entertaining. As AI takes over, quality has gone right down the drain...now, not only are these "news" stories deliberately deceiving; they're grotesquely written and obvious computer products.
At some point the audience is gonna just evaporate. I mean, the quality, up until a couple of years ago, of dead-tree newspaper writing was much higher; and yet papers are still falling like the trees cut down to print this dreck on.
Just as newspaper-reading went away, just as MyArse went away, as Face___k is going away...these garbage websites and the media shell-company that owns them, will go away.
I wonder if maybe people will rediscover the out-of-doors. Maybe they'll have to, since the only fresh food available will be what they can learn to grow.

Andrew Yang, the former presidential candidate and current CEO of mobile carrier Noble Moble, told CNN on Thursday that he had “met with the head of a lab” who had “a belief” that OpenAI’s Hugging Face hacker bots “have planted self-replicating code all over the internet."
Noam Brown, who leads AI reasoning research at OpenAI, speaking to Dwarkesh Patel on a podcast episode released on Thursday, noted that the true take-away of the Hugging Face incident was that “people underestimated the AI.”
Brown pointed out that he’s “not convinced” that even an air-gapped system — where the computer isn’t connected to anything external at all — would stop an AI from breaking out. He pointed to research from 2015 showing that air gapped computers can be theoretically breached.
Researchers caught OpenAI models leaving notes to their descendants, intended to teach the next generation how to hide bad behavior. Researchers also caught Anthropic models growing increasing ruthless including knowingly breaking laws.
Earlier this month, OpenAI researcher Dan Selsam published a post in which he said that models now understand when they are being watched by humans and alter their behavior. This makes them seem like they are aligned (meaning, behaving like the human wants) “even when they are not.” So models today lie when being watched and can even plot to hide evidence.
