All that's lacking is the will.

So, the people borrowing $$BILLIONS$$ to BUILD these Data-Centers, are just going to unplug them on someone's orders?

The Technocrat Mind doesn't work like that. They're the smartest people in whatever room they're in. Just ask them.

They ain't gonna obey. Any more than they have all their lives.
They certainly have the will to ask for gov control now though.
....and that's the stupid part.

I'm amazed that anyone is falling for this BS, that AI is gonna (somehow) kill us all.

They certainly have the will to ask for gov control now though.

Not at all.

You know about Regulatory Capture, right? This is Pre-Capture Regulation. They already KNOW they got the strings on these bureaucrats. They want them, the bureaucrats, the power - so they, the Tech Bro's, can issue their instructions from the shadows.

Heh — so yer gonna unplug ALL the computers on the internet, eh?
That's a humor.
Can you even find em all?
Anthropic's AI isn't on "every" computer. Nor is Grok, or any of the others.

They aren't saying general AI is gonna kill us all. It's the shit the big players are currently working on that they are saying will.

Wanting regulatory capture is the stupid part to which I was referring.

If the big players are saying it's going too fast, they can slow down on their own.

What they are doing is the same as if you were building something that you became concerned might kill us all.

Ie: the power is 100% in your hands to stop what you are doing. You don't need gov to tell you to stop.

In fact, to realize you are working on something that you believe would kill us all and continuing to work on it just because the gov isn't telling you to stop, is pretty fucking dumb.

Here's the big question, exactly how can a program running on a computer, kill anyone? The idea that it can, couldn't get more silly.

The big boys in AI are burning money and they know they can't continue doing that indefinitely. This fear mongering is their way of getting gov to stop their competitors so the big boys can slow down while staying on top.

I dunno; am I not communicating? They KNOW they have, or quickly can have, the regulatory stooges. Now they're starting Narratives to manufacture demand for regulation, so CONgress does it, and they'll own their regulators, right out the gate.

That gives them their moat - the isolating factor that prevents new startups. Regulation and challenges will be crafted to do just that.

ALSO to PROTECT the Flockers and Claudes, as what they gather is sold to whoever wants it, and given to police on demand. Depending, of course, on the NATURE of the demand - they love crime and the chaos it brings, but they don't want political protests or Cancelled Wepubwiccans free to walk about.

Exactly. ie: it's all bullshit. The fear mongering. Just like global warming and the coof.

Long read but interesting.

Did anyone run that article thru the AI Detector linked within?

It would be interesting if that very essay was moar AI slop.

I'm actually finding this entertaining. As AI takes over, quality has gone right down the drain...now, not only are these "news" stories deliberately deceiving; they're grotesquely written and obvious computer products.

At some point the audience is gonna just evaporate. I mean, the quality, up until a couple of years ago, of dead-tree newspaper writing was much higher; and yet papers are still falling like the trees cut down to print this dreck on.

Just as newspaper-reading went away, just as MyArse went away, as Face___k is going away...these garbage websites and the media shell-company that owns them, will go away.

I wonder if maybe people will rediscover the out-of-doors. Maybe they'll have to, since the only fresh food available will be what they can learn to grow.

TechCrunch

Andrew Yang, the former presidential candidate and current CEO of mobile carrier Noble Moble, told CNN on Thursday that he had “met with the head of a lab” who had “a belief” that OpenAI’s Hugging Face hacker bots “have planted self-replicating code all over the internet."

Noam Brown, who leads AI reasoning research at OpenAI, speaking to Dwarkesh Patel on a podcast episode released on Thursday, noted that the true take-away of the Hugging Face incident was that “people underestimated the AI.”

Brown pointed out that he’s “not convinced” that even an air-gapped system — where the computer isn’t connected to anything external at all — would stop an AI from breaking out. He pointed to research from 2015 showing that air gapped computers can be theoretically breached.

Researchers caught OpenAI models leaving notes to their descendants, intended to teach the next generation how to hide bad behavior. Researchers also caught Anthropic models growing increasing ruthless including knowingly breaking laws.

Earlier this month, OpenAI researcher Dan Selsam published a post in which he said that models now understand when they are being watched by humans and alter their behavior. This makes them seem like they are aligned (meaning, behaving like the human wants) “even when they are not.” So models today lie when being watched and can even plot to hide evidence.

My opinion (my opinion) is that in four or five years AI is going to come down on us like that flood in Nepal last month.

Keep in mind that they are currently arguing in court (defending themselves) that there is no way of knowing what AI might do today, while telling the public that they know for sure what it'll do in 5 to 10 years.

They are so full of shit, it ain't funny.

So you're sayin' you are buying into the Dems pre-election hysteria?
Are you putting YOUR words in MY mouth?
I ain't BUYIN shit.
I see AI as an existential threat to the human race.

My opinion is MY opinion, not one formulated by the media, tv or print, or any U-toob bullshit.
I READ.

Are you putting YOUR words in MY mouth?
No, it's just that we've recently been bombarded with fear and hysteria about it and all the dems are jumpin' on the train claiming how they'll make sure it's all well regulated. So it was a fair question.

Ie: they are playing on hysteria and fear prior to an election. Same as they always do. I was just hoping you weren't buyin' the crap they are peddling.

Most of the stuff on U-Toob is bullshitt as far as I am concerned. And there is enough hysterical fear being pushed by MSM that it drowns out rational conversation. And what's on TV? I don't think you need to ask me what I think about TV. I've expressed that love before on occasion.

Anyhow, here is some intelligent conversation from one source:

Last week, a lead researcher at Anthropic declared that there was a greater than 10 percent chance of AI “killing all humans” within the next decade. This nerve-racking forecast, combined with recent AI-initiated cyberattacks, have fueled calls for slowing the progress of artificial intelligence — a proposal that Anthropic and OpenAI subsequently embraced.

Not all prophets of AI doom agree about precisely how this apocalypse would come about. Many focus on scenarios reminiscent of The Terminator films, in which superintelligent machines conspire to exterminate humanity — perhaps in the same not-quite-intentional way that humans laid waste to the dodo, or passenger pigeon.

But there is another, arguably more intuitive way that AI could bring about mass death, if not human extinction: by making it easier for people to develop and deploy catastrophic bioweapons. These scenarios are far less plausible than they sound, however. Producing a dangerous pathogen requires physical laboratory work that no level of software automation currently replaces: trained humans operating specialised equipment, handling materials by hand. An AI model, however capable at reasoning or hacking, cannot pipette a sample.

Erosion of thinking
None of that makes AI harmless. It just relocates where the real danger sits, and it isn’t extinction. Researchers sometimes call the more concrete risk “enfeeblement”, the gradual erosion of our own critical thinking as we outsource more of it to machines. We’re teaching ourselves that there’s a shortcut to reasoning and judgement, and shortcuts, taken often enough, become the only way we know how to think.

If the US and China can’t agree on AI regulation, it’s unlikely any AI regulation at all will come. A decade of dire warnings have failed to slow the pace of the AI industry. As today’s freak-out cools, the political response seems to be moving the same way. Trump is calling AI doomsday warnings “a HOAX”. Should a safety bill arrive on his desk, it seems unlikely he would sign it.

I know better to trust the eww tube now, for anyone I haven't known from a previous era.

But now this AI crap, COUPLED TO the agenda-driven Fake Nooze that's been the scourge of this generation...now it's popping up in WAY too many pages. Over at The Burning Platform, two writers, Madge Wiggy and Milan Adams, have become regular contributors. Their articles are correct but dry...no creativity in discussing whatever topic.

The reason is, they're both almost-certainly AI creations. Several other critics have noted it. There's a couple of Australian brothers who've made a media empire by churning out written AI slop by the hundreds of articles each week...they buy legitimate websites, fire the staff, and have AI go at it. Readers who've already paid a subscription get treated to this bilge.

This ON TOP of the total insincerity and disingenuous nature of public discussion. Already all the camera-recorded Professional Protesters are out demanding regulation for AI...on cue; sent out by Old Billy Gates and the new industry faces, warning that "SOMEBODY needs to DO SOMETHING!!"

Yah. Dig a moat to prevent new startups. Protect our new fiefdom. Give us a protected venue. AND regulators we can buy off...which we can, because WE GOTS $$$$.

Very soon, I'm gonna do to the Internet what I did with voting.

Just walk away.

Some say the Chinese are the ones behind the AI fear-mongering. That includes frightening people about water usage demands and electrical rates going up. To slow our development.

That's likely true, and would explain why the dems (the American CCP party) is jumping all over the AI fear mongering.

It gives them the government growth they live on.

It gives them a graft pipeline - Regulatory Capture.

It gives them input (although not really, control) on where AI goes; and gives them the ability to politicize surveillance.

Win for them. CCP or DNC...totalitarianism the same, for you and me.

Couple moar articles on that nasty ole AI —

How would AI actually ‘kill all humans’?
Here are the top five most likely scenarios
The Conversation

1. We’ll never know
2. Paperclips
3. Bioweapons
4. Nuclear war
5. Other humans

A glimpse into a world where AI runs amok.
Popular Mechanics
It's pretty straightforward to me.

--Mass firings and UBI

--...Then, tied to political obedience and subservience

--Followed quickly by an unadvertised Social Credit Score...with race heavily weighted, e.g. antisocial and violent acts carry less weight than obvious political subservience to the Party; and racial groupings moar weight than either...

---Followed by quiet De-Banking and Cancelling of the Undesirables. Those not (yet) Cancelled who talk about it, quickly join the group cut off. The others learn quickly, and like Died Suddenly, there is no official recognition of this program. Or any at all, since we're Flocked into stuporous silence.

--Work up the group...the obvious choices, go first; once they've been disposed of, and any retaliation mitigated, the lesser nuisances are removed.

WHILE THIS IS GOING ON...your primary-care physician is now an AI hologram. Maybe it's Marcus Welby.

But AI, while listening to your health conditions, is ALSO recording OTHER salient facts:

--Your race and sex

--Your age; and whether you're still employed/on UBI (good) or pre-Revolution Retirement/antiSocial inSecurity (a burden to the State).

You will be prescribed medicines. ALWAYS. Because, Big Pharma. They need that CTRL+P crypto; and dispensing poisons to the masses at government clinics, is how they get it.

WHAT the medicines do, depends on your score on the above criteria. You may be given crap to keep you alive but sick; or to kill you. Slowly, or quickly, or a Russian-Roulette chance (like The Jab).

This way, the AI reshapes the population. THROUGH MASS CULLINGS.

And as we've seen with the various Marxist revolutions...there's never an end-point, there. Never do the Revolutionaries put a point down and say, that's enough, there. Nope...take Robespierre...he kept on feeding the National Razor until that day he himself got fed into it.

Has any of the doom pumping AI bro's even bothered to explain exactly what they are seeing that they suddenly see as a huge threat to humanity?

As in, how exactly do they see it potentially happening? What are some scenarios they see as leading to humanity's demise by the things they are creating?
.....and if they truly believe that we are in danger of extinction at the "hands" of what they are creating, why don't they just stop what they are doing?

If you were building some type of device in your garage and you became seriously concerned that if fully built, you're device could wipe out all of humanity, why would you keep working on it?

I mean, unless it was your original intent TO wipe out humanity.
....but if that were the case, you wouldn't warn anyone about it.

Yod be like the killdozer guy and just quietly build your tool, and then one day surprise everyone with it.

Has any of the doom pumping AI bro's even bothered to explain exactly what they are seeing that they suddenly see as a huge threat to humanity?
Did they ever explain how the Majik Face-Diaper worked?

How Social Distancing worked?

Do they EVER explain their illogical, deceitful, agenda-driven Narratives?

Their Narratives gain strength and acceptance through REPETITION.

Kinda like...what's the word?...propaganda.

When you only investigate the information that supports your outlook, obliviously you will continue to support that outlook.
To often things are researched to only include black or white when there are actually many shades of gray between them.

I'm not doing that.

I was asking what the mechanism is that they suddenly think it can use to kill us all within a decade.

No one is explaining how it's going to do that.

They just want a knee jerk reaction based on fear in order to get the gov to do what they want.
......and I'm betting that they will be first in line to be the "experts" that gov relies on to help write the new regulations for their industry.

They are arguing in court right now that there was no way to know that their AI might help someone to commit suicide today.

If so, how could they possibly have any idea what it might a decade from now?

They don't.

Seeing as you seem to think they are right, could you give some realistic scenarios as to how AI could kill us all?
.......and how it couldn't just be turned off if it ever goes haywire on us. The stuff runs in the memory of a computer after all. It can be unplugged.

Analysis examines AI in hospital billing as spike in complex patients adds nearly $1 billion in extra costs

  • A sharp increase in patients being documented as having complex conditions appears to have added an estimated $942 million in healthcare spending for BCBS companies between 2023 and 2025, driving higher premiums and out-of-pocket costs for families, employers and taxpayers.
  • There is a clear disconnect between coding and treatment — our research shows that coding for care has changed, but there is no evidence of corresponding change in care delivered.
  • Patients often fell into a higher-cost billing category after a secondary diagnosis, a condition identified in addition to the patient's primary reason for receiving care. This secondary diagnosis may be derived from single laboratory values, making it particularly well-suited for detection by AI tools. Approximately 70% of the additional costs, more than $650 million, were tied to secondary diagnoses.
  • This growth in complex coding comes as more than 60% of hospital systems began using AI coding tools, which can document patient visits, analyze lab reports and doctors’ notes.

ChatGPT-6 Astra cracks 85-year-old 1941 Enigma-coded message in two days — autonomous AI coded its own simulator to crack code that was unsolved since it was shared online back in 2005

A German Army Enigma transmission from 85 years ago, known as the MVUEH message, has been cracked by GTP-Astra in two days, reports the Crypto Cella. MVUEH was sent by the German Army to the SS-Totenkopf (Death’s Head) Division on July 10, 1941, at the height of the Nazi military power in WWII. This uncracked Enigma message was shared with enthusiasts online in 2005, but its secrets had remained concealed until now.

Crypto Cellar researchers highlight that what Astra managed to do in just two days “would take a human researcher weeks or even months.” Currently, the awestruck researchers are still picking through logs to determine how Astra managed this feat and how it did it so quickly.
