What Happened to the Cast of TAXI (1978-1983) After the Show Ended?​

Taxi aired on ABC from September 1978, to May 1982 and then on NBC for its final season which brought it to an end in 1983. The show followed a motley crew of employees from the Sunshine Cab Company in New York City, which includes Bobby a frustrated actor, Tony the struggling boxer, an art gallery receptionist named Elaine, and Louie the tyrannical dispatcher . For almost everyone, the cab company is just a temporary job on the way to something better, but at the core of the company is disillusioned Alex, who's sure he will be driving a cab for the rest of his life. A Burned-out ex-hippie minister called Reverend Jim and a strange mechanic named Latka round out the group. But what happened to the cast after the show ended?

In the 1940s, Hedy Lamarr was one of Hollywood's most famous and strikingly beautiful actresses. Despite her prominent roles in numerous films and frequent appearances on celebrity magazine covers, few knew that she was obsessed with science and was also an inventor on many levels. Instead of attending glamorous Hollywood parties after a long day at MGM Studios, Hedy often chose to spend her evenings tinkering. Despite not having formal training in engineering or mathematics, she demonstrated incredible ingenuity, coming up with practical solutions for many everyday problems. Some of her inventions included a tissue box attachment for disposing of used tissues and a glow-in-the-dark collar for dogs. But perhaps her most significant invention was something called frequency hopping, a technology that played a critical role during future wars and eventually contributed to the development of WiFi, Bluetooth, and GPS.

How the real-life cowboy behind ‘Yellowstone’ went from a broke unemployed actor sleeping in a tent to a one-man television empire​

Yellowstone, and its depiction of those who roam Montana's grassy hills and deep valleys, strode back into the nation's TV sets on Sunday, with more than 16 million viewers tuning into the most recent episode. Like a lone cowboy riding his horse into the sunset, the show's co-creator and writer, Taylor Sheridan, seems to be living his dream.

Yellowstone’s huge success has attracted boomer icons—with Sylvester Stallone, Helen Mirren, and Harrison Ford all signing up to work with Sheridan on other shows—and record-breaking viewing figures: The premiere episode of the most recent season garnered 15.9 million viewers.

In fact, Yellowstone has generated so much interest that two spinoffs (flashbacks, as their titles indicate: 1883 and 1923) have already been spawned off it. And Sheridan has bagged a nearly $200 million deal ViacomCBS, now known as Paramount, to produce more shows over the next couple of years. His series of franchises dominate the most-watched list across both broadcast and streaming shows, but it wasn’t long ago that Sheridan was making his home on the range—literally.

Every Sunday he would have an open house at his Malibu Beach home. This was a time when the Hollywood elite could come over relax and be themselves. They let their guard down when they were with McDowall.
McDowall had skills when it came to cameras. Besides being an actor he was also a film director and photographer. A few years ago we learned that one of his hobbies was shooting home movies.

Rod Serling at 100: The Creator of ‘The Twilight Zone Radio Dramas’ Remembers Serling’s Amazing Life​

Rod Serling, born on Dec. 25, 1924, was a prolific contributor of fine dramas for almost every major prestigious live TV anthology series during the mid ’50s. He took his love of science fiction and fantasy to a new level when he created The Twilight Zone. The series ultimately changed the way science fiction was interpreted on the tube. Today, producers and directors like J.J. Abrams and Steven Spielberg acknowledge Serling’s influence on their own productions.

A former boxer and paratrooper, Serling worked first in radio and then moved on to television. “It was experience,” he later recalled, “but incidental experience. I learned ‘time,’ writing for a medium that is measured in seconds. Radio and its offspring, television, are unique in the stringency of the time factor. Radio and TV stations gave me a look-see at the factory that would produce my product. I got to understand the basic workings of cameras, lights and microphones. I got a sense of the space that could be utilized and the number of people who might be accommodated in that space. This was all to the good.”

Happy Days aired from 1974 to 1984, and it presented an idealized vision of what life was like in the midwest during the 1950s and early 60s. The show gave us a grown up Ron Howard as Richie Cunningham, the cultural phenomenon that was Henry Winkler’s character Fonzie, and supportive parents in Tom Bosley and Marion Ross. The show became a huge hit with many spin-offs, and we just couldn’t get enough of life in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Sadly, over the last 40 years since the last episode aired, we have lost so many of the cast members that made the show so special.
