In any even these Losses were all minor compared to the entire Iranian air force being wiped out, probably for decades. A bunch of our losses were helicopters, drones, and other utility aircraft, all a very partial loss to our inventory. All the pilots and aircrew of the very few manned were rescued. Iran's Navy ? Wiped out. Their air defense network ? almost entirely wiped out. 8 of their very few and precious F-14 fighters wiped out. Our 42 losses include those of allied nations. It was as one sided a war as you could wish for, totally dominated by America.

🚨 While the US and Iran traded airstrikes all weekend over the Strait of Hormuz, Iran's own government published the number underneath the war. Inflation hit 88.6% year-on-year in June, with food prices in some categories doubling. Iran is somewhat winning the fight for the strait and bleeding the economy it was fighting to save.

Start with what happened. Iran drone-struck a tanker on Thursday. The US bombed Iranian sites Friday. Iran hit another tanker Saturday. The US struck ten targets in the strait Saturday night. Iran sent drones at Bahrain, and sirens sounded over a Gulf capital. Every strike was Iran proving one thing, that it controls this water and it does. Iran can choke the strait whenever it wants.

Now look at the number that reframes all of it. Iran's statistics office reported prices up 88.6% from a year ago, and the cause is brutally simple. Iranian crude exports hit zero in May, down from 2.1 million barrels a day before the war. No oil sold means no revenue, a collapsing currency, and food slipping out of reach at home.

Now the trap. The deal Iran is breaking was the cure. The ceasefire memorandum offered sanctions relief and oil revenue, the only thing that lowers 88.6%, in exchange for one core term, safe passage through Hormuz. So Iran is firing drones at the very ships whose passage was the price of its own bailout. It is bombing the road back to selling its oil.

The water is a chokepoint Iran controls and is using. Its economy is a chokepoint tightening on Iran with every drone. The regime can endure pain longer than outsiders expect, so this does not end tomorrow. But the war Iran is fighting to look strong is starving the recovery that was sitting on the table.

Seems like some people's wishes align with Iran's suicide bombers.
 
It is about keeping the petrodollar intact.
