LAPD's 'Operation Street Sweeper' impounds 200 cars, arrests 69 in huge Labor Day weekend street takeover bust​

The city of Los Angeles and its police department are seriously done with street takeovers. In an effort to crack down on these dangerous semi-impromptu gatherings known to invoke damage of area businesses and chaos in surrounding neighborhoods as well as unsafe road conditions, the LAPD created "Operation Street Sweeper." Over the holiday weekend, over 150 officers who participated in the operation took down one of the city's massive takeovers, with over 700 people in attendance that resulted in the impounding of 200 vehicles and 69 (nice) arrests.

Especially the "entertain strangers" part. So MUCH toxic and stupid behavior, especially online, is done now, to impress people that the posters don't know and probably wouldn't even like. Everything from "Jackass" style stunts, to buying gawdawful-expensive cars to deliver DoorDash or work Uber in.

Something got short-circuited in people's brains. The world is not a stage; and you're not going to be top billing. NOBODY CARES - live the life you need, for YOU. Not to give TikTok vids to morons who don't know, say, what a tire costs, even.

I'm just waiting for that kind of crap to hit my now-medium-sized mountain town, now a city of 90k.

The basic ingredients, the "diversity" vanguard, have already arrived from Compton. I see them were I shouldn't; and now, for the first time, public restrooms in stores are locked up. Permanently "Out of Order" or, key or purchase only.

Next come the takeovers of low-income housing. We have a lot in town - it's been a growth industry lo these twelve years...a lot of fixed-income retirees, myself included, who were not prepared for their $500 rents to explode to $2200. Nor for taxes to launch on small homesteads they'd bought for $70k 25 years ago, now assessed at $1 million, and taxes adjusted accordingly.

So it's various forms of low-income housing. And talking with the former manager here, who knew managers at other low-income privately-owned complexes...the problems are starting. Kids left alone all day, starting trouble. Vandalism and theft out of cars. Fighting. Noise and loud radios/boomboxes.

Yeah...thanks to Davos Man, all the world's gonna be a gated, guarded, locked-down "community"...
 
Walmart customer, 77, beaten to death by parents of teen employee

An elderly Walmart customer was beaten to death by the parents of a teen employee who he had argued with after accusing her of nearly ramming his wife with a shopping cart, according to his grieving widow.

Bert Atienza died of blunt head trauma at a hospital on June 8, a day after two people attacked him inside a Walmart in Norfolk, Va.

Big-Box stores are monuments to a Hight-Trust Society. They didn't come to be in Moslem or even Soviet societies, where the emphasis was on, variously, public piety or subjugation to political ideology and political masters. In both worlds, petty theft, or even high-value theft, when done against someone not politically-connected...such was the order of the day.

Now, we've imported 100 million Turd World potentates of Diversity, and - Surprise! - we're turning into the Turd World. Malls are closing and stores have to put locks on everything. Even security patrols at the exits don't work, when the government refuses to punish crime with a value under a certain not-petty limit. And when corrupt judges refuse to incarcerate thieves because of the color of their SKIN.

This is - obviously - why shopping malls are dying. I'm in an area that's about a decade behind the general societal decay, and our local mall is thriving. Because we don't have dindus staging shooting wars, and we don't have Pak!s walking out of department stores laden with boxes they haven't paid for, cannot pay for, will not pay for.

But Elites in government refuse to address it, so, for law-abiding citizens-now-subjects, we're faced with everything in a store, under lock and key.

It's a location thing. If everything is locked up, it's because of the neighborhood you are in is full of thieves.

Same applies at fast food places. If they charging for every condiment pack, you in the 'hood. Ie: watch your back 'cause you might get robbed by the guy waiting in line behind you.

They tell the manager that their Theft Threshold wasn't crossed - unless they can PROVE that the (missing, stolen) items were over $1k in value.

And if the manager tries to stop it himself, after LE refused to do their job...he's fired, and then LE arrests him for "Hate Crimes."

You're in an area that's falling but hasn't crashed.

If they have to lock up ANYTHING, it speaks of the moral level of the customer base. That it's spray-paint and nicotine patches, tells you of the mental level they're at.

Guns have to be locked up. State and Federal Law, I believe. Even if not, common sense would require it. ESPECIALLY since not everyone who wants one will pass a government-approval check - and might decide that a five-finger bypass is the way.

I can see that. First, you don't want dust/crud falling on the cakes. Box them, and the icing is likely to be damaged.

And children misbehave. A five-year-old sticking his fingers into a cake, and tasting it, is just doing what kids do. Unless he's already been spanked for it, and that's not likely.

So, to save waste, just put them behind glass. That's just prudence.

The nicotine patches have always been behind glass for as long as I can recall them being for sale.


There are thieves everywhere. In no way was I saying my area is immune to theft.

Just that apparently there is less of it. At least in the shops I frequent.


In some parts of the city it's a bit different. It's just that here they might have ya arrested for stealing a pack of gum.

I mentioned the cakes tryin' to be funny. They're in a standard pastry counter with the curved glass on the front. Ie: not "locked" up.
 

Officer killed, another injured in West Philly shooting; suspect ID'ed as water department employee​

A Philadelphia police officer was killed and another was critically wounded after authorities said a man ambushed them with a shotgun early Saturday outside his West Philadelphia home. The suspect, who continued to shoot at responding officers before being arrested, is a city employee.

Shane Seiber, a 40-year-old father of two, died from several gunshot wounds, and his colleague, a 33-year-old man with nine years on the force, is fighting for his life, Police Commissioner Kevin Bethel said.

Bethel said Seiber, a 10-year veteran of the department, was struck three times and died at Penn Presbyterian Medical Center shortly after 9 a.m. His colleague, who was shot 12 times, remained hospitalized at Penn Presbyterian in stable condition but was “not out of the woods yet,” the commissioner said.
