A number of things.
That voice...is AI. Now, it may just be masking, for a creator who wants to stay anon; but before I go ripping my $100k truck apart, I want a bit more assurance. Like someone I can talk to, who's done it.
Second. I'm glad Massie and others have tried to redact this section of the bill. But...let's look at recent history, shall we? HOW MANY attempts have we seen to repeal Bammykair? We got the mandate to buy it, redacted...but not the right to buy ACTUAL health insurance, the kind we had before Barry fixed it, the kind that we could afford, that protected us from medical catastrophes.
We already know how GM, et al, is going to fix this Two-Torx Solution for us. They already are doing it, with other issues. The CAN-BUSS....replace a battery in your new car, and everything dummies up. The hundred-or-so computer processors won't ALLOW anything to work, until the system is "flashed."
By a technician. Using proprietary software. FROM A DEALER.
He used to be called Mister Goodwrench. Now he's Remove-Replace-Reflash. With a huge bill.
This, after a three-week wait, your car and its $1200/month payments, sitting in the back of the dealer lot...because all the dealers are behind.
Because they pay their "technicians" Starbucks wages, while charging you Brain-Surgery rates.
There will quickly be an "outcry" from the Safety Cultists that their Nanny-State system can so-quickly be defeated...they'll put in checks, to PREVENT OPERATION unless this wonderful little processor is in there, recording everything and sending it to Data Centers.
And our goobermint MADE this mess, and CAN NOT clean it up. Because the Dumbo dolts, and the RINO re-tards, DO NOT EVEN READ THE G-D BILLS THEY SIGN.

Also, will a faraday bag even help?
Phones have accelerometers in them. So if the telco knows the gps location of a device when it went dark (into the bag) and the location when it goes live again (comes out of the bag), all that needs to happen is for accelerometer data to be saved to be uploaded when a connection becomes available.
That's what phones supposedly do when in airplane mode. Ie: Saves your location data for later upload.
So it seems to me that it wouldn't be too difficult to recreate a path using that data. It would also show long stops you took, as well as short ones that could easily be matched to intersections and traffic lights along your path.
The more I think about it, the more I think that the only way to truly stop the tracking that we might have any control over, would be to get a cell phone and gps jammer and carry it with you everywhere.
.....and the problem there is that that is illegal.
Only way it might work long term, would be if it were of low enough power to only block signals in an area the size of one's own car. Or maybe just the cars immediately around you.
If you are going around jamming everything within 100 yards of you and driving regular routes at regular times, you'll eventually get caught.
BTW, if anyone is interested, there is an app called phyphox that will give you direct access to the sensors on your phone. Including the accelerometers.
It seems safe, as it has not attempted to "phone home" or do anything else other than just work as advertised.
No connection attempts or unwarranted permissions needed to install or run it.
....and it's kinda cool to play around with. It's designed to allow you to do physics experiments with your phone.

My solution of the moment, is to leave the phone at home.
I have an obsoleted (but fine condition) old non-smart phone. It can and does call 9-1-1 (I have tested it). THAT is the phone I travel with, now, if I'm not likely to need to call anyone to chit-chat.
That's important, since, now, prepaid phones are getting so expensive (everything is "SMART") that buying burners is a burden.

Maybe, but how far can you move your arm?
Driving down the road, I don't think that won't work because the motion of the flipping or turning of a phone that you could physically do inside a car, would be insignificant relative to the motion of the car.
That's probably the only real solution.
....but then still got the flock cameras as well as all the other flock-like companies with cameras everywhere recording your cars movements.

Like someone losing their temper after being cut off by, I dunno, maybe a NO NAME GIVEN truck driver...and the algo senses an "impaired" driver and shuts the car off at 70 mph in traffic. Where NO NAME GIVEN 2 behind the car runs it down.
Or, someone's having a heart attack, and the <redacted - see forum guidelines on epithets> 9-1-1 operator puts the caller on Hold. So, since the hospital is six minutes away by car, JUST-FRIKKIN-DRIVE.
And the car won't start - because the algos say, you dronk.
I think this is gonna be the thing to launch a great new business - REWIRING all these Government-Control cars, to actually WORK. With a kit, it wouldn't be hard - just rip all the stuff out under the dash; and put a simple wiring harness in. Lights, basic controls...you'd use the electronic speedometer, but a satellite speed monitor (I have one, sold as a bicycle speedo, but it works great on cars, too...used it in a rig I had that had a hard-to-read speedo, it would give accurate speeds up to 99 mph)
...just mount it on the dash somewhere. And the engine controls: simple module could be cobbled onto the FI system. It wouldn't be much different than what Jeep restorers do, with wiring-harness kids, when they pull an old hulk out of the desert...not rusted, but all the systems destroyed.
Government not gonna allow it? Not now it won't. Things are gonna change once it's common knowledge that the few new cars sold with this crap (to the few who can afford it but are so stupid as to buy it) are dangerous, and the makers bankrupt and shut down (where I'm convinced this circus is heading). If a government tells the people they cannot have transportation, THEY WILL rebel.
Even in Soviet Russia or Castro's Cuba, that didn't work. It won't work here, either. The few effete midwit grrl-bosses who fancy themselves political leaders, are NOT gonna be able to electronically or legally forbid us mobility. Not for long, and not without their own loss of lives.
It doesn't have a browser function.
Does it have a spy feature, to connect to the mothership? Maybe. What will it tell the data center? It's been disconnected for three years. It could have gone anywhere...I just dusted it off three months ago, now that I've gotten serious about leaving the GD Stupfone at home.
