There are forums that discuss this.Well, it's happened.
And, yes. The reason it's happened is, people are too stupid to be motivated to block it; too stupid to not buy it; too stupid to not see that it will inconvenience them, maybe harm them, PERSONALLY.
It's been this way since that G-D exploding air-bag...the safety device that kills. THAT should have been STOPPED.
Then, these GD fuel-economy standards. Wanna know why modern cars are so fragile, that an unfortunate trip over a curbstone will tear a wheel off and total your car? Those are why. Wanna know why the tiny four cylinder engine is PACKED into the engine bay, SIDEWAYS, on the surviving modern cars? Why it costs $4000 JUST TO PULL the engine, before even repairing it? The fuel economy standards demand FWD, and transverse mounting lessens friction from the driveline. So you HAVE to have one of these gee-whiz cars - or else a hulking, six-figure Bro-Dozer. Nope, the Ford Crown Vic was OUTLAWED, by CAFE.
Then there's ethanol in gasoline. That has shortened the lives of engine components - to where it's not economical to repair the cumulative damage in older cars.
THEN, all the "Driving Assists" that are now obligatory. With a hundred little computers controlling them, and running power through the "Canbuss." Change the battery, the whole system has to be flashed. YOU cannot DO it. Joe at Joe's Auto Fix, cannot do it. FORD has to do it; and Ford has to be paid.
Now this bovine scat.
Yes, it is time to STOP BUYING. It will be painful, but not only is there no other way, but these things are neither economically justified, for their short useful lives, given the propensity of electronics to fail...nor can they BE lived with.
Find another way. Bike-and-bus, or golf-car, or buy a used bus and carpool with 30 of your best friends.
They will continue to push until they're stopped.^^^ they see people's attempts to thwart their tracking, so they will make it so it cannot be avoided
Shake and spin the faraday bags once and a while?^^^^ they see people's attempts to thwart their tracking, so they will make it so it cannot be avoided.
Also, will a faraday bag even help?
Phones have accelerometers in them. So if the telco knows the gps location of a device when it went dark (into the bag) and the location when it goes live again (comes out of the bag), all that needs to happen is for accelerometer data to be saved to be uploaded when a connection becomes available.
That's what phones supposedly do when in airplane mode. Ie: Saves your location data for later upload.
So it seems to me that it wouldn't be too difficult to recreate a path using that data. It would also show long stops you took, as well as short ones that could easily be matched to intersections and traffic lights along your path.
Maybe, but how far can you move your arm?Shake and spin the faraday bags once and a while?
That's probably the only real solution. My solution of the moment, is to leave the phone at home
Do you ever let it connect to the internet? Was it ever in service on your account?I have an obsoleted (but fine condition) old non-smart phone. It can and does call 9-1-1 (I have tested it). THAT is the phone I travel with, now, if I'm not likely to need to call anyone to chit-chat.
Just ran across this vid. It's a guy in Europe documenting all the annoying shit on modern cars.
Like to wear sunglasses while driving? Nope. The driver monitoring system can't see your eyes.
Put your hands on the wrong part of the steering wheel?
Move your hands, dumb human!
Wanna leave your phone at home? Car won't like not being able to connect to your phone and will nag you about it.
.....and a whole bunch more stuff he goes over.
I'm amazed that anyone puts up with this crap.
Anyone buying a new car today needs their head examined, IMHO.
It doesn't have a browser function.Do you ever let it connect to the internet? Was it ever in service on your account?
