I have little experience with Pt but If I was holding ,and had a buyer for a good price, and the spread was right, I'd really consider selling and buying Au right now.
Disagree with that opinion based on? Right now Pt is the most undervalued among the top 3 and has the most price velocity based on gold's spot price behavior. Platinum will blow through $2k while gold will continue up at a more measured rate. The action is in the white metals now especially with the Chins that like the color better than yellow jewelry.

Yeah, well I especially remember Pt from the pre-2011 levels when it was a multiple of gold. The price has crashed despite there being very little Pt in the world, so I obviously didn't understand the market. That said, if Pt continues to increase, there may come a time when I trade out of it for Au, perhaps at a coin show - we'll see. It'll depend on too many things to make any promises. Fortunately, it's a minority position for me.

Ok this is slightly off topic but Platinum is the king. Oh and I want my Platinum/Gold alloy engine coatings and I want it Now. Ok probably not as that would be $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$.

Sandia’s materials science team has engineered a platinum-gold alloy believed to be the most wear-resistant metal in the world. It’s 100 times more durable than high-strength steel, making it the first alloy, or combination of metals, in the same class as diamond and sapphire, nature’s most wear-resistant materials.

Looks like bottoming out @ $1599. Next week should be fireworks.

I think they are Plumb out of Platinum. Comex numbers since Friday

Oct 6 - 87 deliveries with 439 OI remaining
Oct 7 - 32 deliveries still 429 OI
Oct 8 - 55 deliveries still 372 OI
Oct 9 - ZERO delivered 372 OI (perhaps closed or something)
Oct 10 - 7 delivered 376 OI

Now this could clear up pretty quick as that's only 18,800 oz of Platinum.. but it bears watching closely IMO.

Still nothing on Friday.
Oct 13 Zero delivered - OI +16 to 392

I don't really want to make a long thread here but older editing is off.
they managed to deliver a whopping FOUR contracts or 200 oz yesterday. So that's something. :ROFLMAO: :pffft:

Oct 14 - 4 delivered and OI +14 to 406

I was based at KirkLand AFB where Sandia Labs is located. They have all these little Laboratorys, Top Secret ones, spread throughout the S/W desert and they are into all kinds of kwazy shiite. Pt is the shiny metal one can't hope but root for. Yes its very useful in Industry but even more so its stunning in jewelry. I know recyclers love getting their hands on it but the market is small as are the % of recycling companys geared toward putting it back into circulation. Its very useful and theres not a whole lot of it so I dont know why that is. Perhaps its the cost of turning it back around.

Since spring 2025 the boom always promised is happening. And the believers in the metal deserve the good news. It must be up almost $700 oz.

Gonna try and buy some on this smash today. Will see if the premiums just go up. Looks like premiums soared. $150 over for a maple leaf, even that for a random choice 1oz bar. These so called markets are a joke.

Updating the deliveries... still looks to be slow rolling it for now. Generally small numbers so why not just close em out. Only need like 5500 troy oz.

Oct 16 - 21 deliveries with 79 OI remaining -20
Oct 17 - 13 deliveries still 114 OI +35
Oct 20 - 20 deliveries still 109 OI -5

Maybe I've said it before; but I don't think platinum as a store-of-value will succeed.

Part of it is, the "brand recognition" that gold has. Gold is quietly beautiful. Platinum is a dull silver. That means nothing when considering it as a store of value; but it's one of the brain-stem appealing qualities that will make gold infect the imagination of the rubes, in a way that the metal inside catalytic converters, cannot.

Remember Dan Fogelberg?

There's not enough of it to be a store of value. It's too valuable industrially and too rare to be commonly used as a store of value. If anything else the store of value would be as high-end jewelry.

A little diversity never hurt anyone. I have about 20 oz of Pt
Lol.....thats exactly what I have ....and 10oz of palladium....basicly a insignificant quantity at least at this time, but adds some diversity and some intresting coins etc...I did look to sell the palladium a while back when it got to the 3000nds but locals didn't want to deal on it and I was to lazy to sell on-line

I think platinum will eventually be rationed by the Russians and South Africans. China should just buy.up the current float if they want to make a point. There would be nothing left except drips at US and Euro retail and then the COMEX would do what they did in the middle of rhe night a couple of days ago.

watching the palladium run-up in 2021 closely .........it came very aparent that the physical buyers and sellers were in control of the market....i think the same is true for PT they are industrial metals and physical trades rule the day..........both are very driven by volume of production of emissions for vehicles

Platinum looks to be leading the way back up. I couldn't even pull the trigger on that little blip. Not much available. What is out there is $70 more than yesterday.

I wanted one of these but unavailable already.
