If I recall, Wrigley Field was open for pedestrians, every day during business hours. They were trying to cultivate it as a lunch and hang-out spot...as well as keep business good for concessionaires.

This was in the day when people could be trusted to come to such a place, and NOT just start ripping seats, passing out from fentanyl, or fornicating on the field. Or, even, shooting the grounds crewmen, from the stands.

I never lived in Chicago, but I'd heard stories. It was part of their unique atmosphere. You'd have never seen that with Cleveland's Municipal Stadium, which was well off the regular paths, on the lakefront, cut off by a 1940s freeway.

2026 Beer $10.78, Hot dog $6.67. And thats the cheapest hot dog. https://www.cheapism.com/mlb-beer-hot-dog-prices/ And even still the suckers line up.
Yea, those are about double what the "adjusted for inflation" price should be today.
....but every venue price gouges nowadays.

Yes, people are stupid for paying it.
....but that's also testament to fact they have the money to be able to buy the stuff at those inflated prices.

Okay. Came across a QTR column today, outside his paywall...it's thought provoking. When you start reading it, you'll think it's off-topic, and it is...but it raises a REAL important question for me, as regards the fiat-dollar. Second- and third-order effects.

Chris here is talking about the crypto-Communist movement that's gaining steam...and how we'll probably vote it in, but not be allowed to vote it out. True enough...I think it'll happen. Before or after I hit the tape, and take the dirt nap.

My own question is, what does this due to the dollar?....moar to the point, what does it due to the gargantuan government, financed by CTRL+P?

This MATTERS. My first reaction is, hay-ell yes, the dollar crashes. A World Reserve Currency, issued by a Marxist nation-state? A NEW Marxist nation, now in the control of True Believers. Not pragmatists like who runs China or Vietnam - Revolutionaries, who really believe the bilge they're puking out.

Will it, though? Perceptions change slowly, and habits, slower still. I can see the Extend-And-Pretend Status-Quotients just hoping it'll all be okay, as they take the newly-created Red Dollars for oil, manufactured goods, services...soon, basic foodstuffs.

As the data-centers hum along, tracking our every move, our every word and written idea.

OR. The dollar becomes funny money, like East German marks, absolutely valueless. Energy is curtailed. Sure, they love them some Data-Center tracking, but when it comes down to, Data Centers or heat our palaces, they'll choose their palaces, their jet rides, over tracking the subdued peons.

The Deep State collapses; and while the nation is not free, it will be free enough to run a broad underground economy and at least survive.

Obviously this matters. It's the difference between a short interregnum, of the sort that Salvador Allende forced on Chile before Pinochet liberated it...or our own 80-year Generational Cycle, immersed in brutal collectivism, that rivals, or exceeds, what had happened in the USSR.

The two democrats who lost were "Israel firsters", if you don't listen about dumping Israel, you can be replaced.
