If I recall, Wrigley Field was open for pedestrians, every day during business hours. They were trying to cultivate it as a lunch and hang-out spot...as well as keep business good for concessionaires.

This was in the day when people could be trusted to come to such a place, and NOT just start ripping seats, passing out from fentanyl, or fornicating on the field. Or, even, shooting the grounds crewmen, from the stands.

I never lived in Chicago, but I'd heard stories. It was part of their unique atmosphere. You'd have never seen that with Cleveland's Municipal Stadium, which was well off the regular paths, on the lakefront, cut off by a 1940s freeway.

2026 Beer $10.78, Hot dog $6.67. And thats the cheapest hot dog. https://www.cheapism.com/mlb-beer-hot-dog-prices/ And even still the suckers line up.
Yea, those are about double what the "adjusted for inflation" price should be today.
....but every venue price gouges nowadays.

Yes, people are stupid for paying it.
....but that's also testament to fact they have the money to be able to buy the stuff at those inflated prices.

Okay. Came across a QTR column today, outside his paywall...it's thought provoking. When you start reading it, you'll think it's off-topic, and it is...but it raises a REAL important question for me, as regards the fiat-dollar. Second- and third-order effects.

Chris here is talking about the crypto-Communist movement that's gaining steam...and how we'll probably vote it in, but not be allowed to vote it out. True enough...I think it'll happen. Before or after I hit the tape, and take the dirt nap.

My own question is, what does this due to the dollar?....moar to the point, what does it due to the gargantuan government, financed by CTRL+P?

This MATTERS. My first reaction is, hay-ell yes, the dollar crashes. A World Reserve Currency, issued by a Marxist nation-state? A NEW Marxist nation, now in the control of True Believers. Not pragmatists like who runs China or Vietnam - Revolutionaries, who really believe the bilge they're puking out.

Will it, though? Perceptions change slowly, and habits, slower still. I can see the Extend-And-Pretend Status-Quotients just hoping it'll all be okay, as they take the newly-created Red Dollars for oil, manufactured goods, services...soon, basic foodstuffs.

As the data-centers hum along, tracking our every move, our every word and written idea.

OR. The dollar becomes funny money, like East German marks, absolutely valueless. Energy is curtailed. Sure, they love them some Data-Center tracking, but when it comes down to, Data Centers or heat our palaces, they'll choose their palaces, their jet rides, over tracking the subdued peons.

The Deep State collapses; and while the nation is not free, it will be free enough to run a broad underground economy and at least survive.

Obviously this matters. It's the difference between a short interregnum, of the sort that Salvador Allende forced on Chile before Pinochet liberated it...or our own 80-year Generational Cycle, immersed in brutal collectivism, that rivals, or exceeds, what had happened in the USSR.

The two democrats who lost were "Israel firsters", if you don't listen about dumping Israel, you can be replaced.

Everybody forgot the US used to have 20k tons of gold. Now it's down to 8k, maybe. I don't believe anything I hear and only half of what I see. It does not matter who is president either.

Fiat Money: The System That Leaves the Poor Behind.

What really happened after the world moved into the post-1971 fiat currency era?
In this video, I look at how gold, silver, stocks, house prices, the money supply and inflation have performed since President Nixon closed the gold window in 1971. The results reveal a striking divide between those able to own and hold assets and those dependent primarily on wages and fiat currency.
I also examine the collapse in the dollar's purchasing power and the extraordinary widening of the CEO-to-worker pay ratio—from 23.5:1 in 1971 to almost 325:1 in 2025.
Is the growing wealth divide one of the hidden consequences of our fiat monetary system?

Fiat Money: The System That Leaves the Poor Behind.

As bad as fiat money is, even without it the poor still get left behind.

As long as the poor spend every dime they get, those dimes will always flow to the top.

Where else is there for those dimes to go?

Even if the woefully misguided "tax the rich and give it to the poor" crowd gets their way, we'll still have poor people.

Some people save and plan; and others indulge.

Some people are productive. Others are essentially parasites - they take more than they contribute. When there is nothing to leach, they only contribute the bare minimum.

This is WHY the poor will always be with us. Why every society has always had a bottom class - be they, serfs or untouchables, whatever.

When money is created from nothing, the increase in fiat-money flows like other money, to the top. It was poured into the economic vetch without anything supporting it - like adding more water to a stew. But that fiat goes where the previous money went - to those with better habits.

I'm not idolizing the top 2 percent - it's simply that their basic habits of delayed gratification, and their understanding of investment, not consumption, leads to their accumulation of money.

In a neutral system, they spend much of what they have - yes, for comforts and luxuries. What they do not spend their heirs spend - the model is, pauper to merchant to tycoon to socialite to pauper. That's the free-market form of Redistribution. Where are the heirs of Carnegie, or Henry Ford? Many of Ford's descendants are comfortable. Most are not truly rich - they live a meager middle-class life off their (protected) Ford Class B stock (which cannot be traded outside the family).

We have to learn, and teach, the reality: Equal opportunities leads to unequal outcomes.

Exactly.

Which is why this whole argument the left uses about wealth inequality is total bull shit.

The lefts "answer" is to tax the wealth and give it to the poor. After they take their cut, of course.
.....but as long as the poor spend every dime they get, the money will always flow to the ones richer than them who are selling them stuff in exchange for all their dimes.

There's nowhere else for it to go, but to the rich.

Stand by. It's getting moar sinister.

What's gonna be the socio-political result of this AI rollout and resultant water and power rationing?...the contrived fuel shortages; and the ripoff fast-fail new automobiles, now being pushed by Woke auto companies, with the idea being, they won't survive long enough for **THOSE PEOPLE** to buy them used? The beef shortage, the corruption in processed food...THE JAB? AND...the LACK of prosecution for any of this?...

Here's what comes of it.

"Socialism." It's Hammer-And-Sickle Time.

Which the Elites want moar than anything. Because Communism is to leverage their economic power, into unelected, untouchable POLITICAL POWER.

People forget...Lenin and his cohert were not rich men. They were that era of wealthy-scion frat boys...

Will the collapse by a tidal wave or waterfall?

The Greatest Monetary Experiment in History Is Coming to an End.

Oct 12, 2026 #maneco64 #FiatMoney #MonetarySystem
Is the greatest monetary experiment in history finally coming to an end?
In today's video, we examine the striking parallels between the collapse of France's paper money system in the 1790s and the global fiat currency experiment that began when President Nixon closed the gold window in 1971.
Drawing on Andrew Dickson White's classic book Fiat Money Inflation in France, we explore why governments repeatedly resort to currency creation to finance debt and spending, why inflation becomes increasingly difficult to control, and what history tells us about the consequences.
With growing turmoil in bond markets, geopolitical tensions and mounting government debt, could we be approaching the final stages of the 55-year fiat money experiment?
We also discuss why physical gold and silver held outside the financial system could become increasingly important in the years ahead.
