Europe weighs using trade ‘bazooka’ against the U.S. as Greenland crisis deepens​

Trump threatens 200% tariffs on French wine if Paris does not join Gaza 'Board of Peace'​

The "Board of Peace" was an idea initially proposed by Trump last September as part of his plan to end the war in Gaza, although the initiative now seems to be aimed at mediating global conflicts more broadly.​

US President Donald Trump has threatened to impose a 200% tariff on French wine and champagne after an aide for French President Emmanuel Macron said France "does not intend" to accept an invitation to join the "Board of Peace" for Gaza.

You are ignoring the fact that for decades, the US has been subject to other nations tariffs while all we were being told was that our tariffs we're bad, and they had to be gotten rid of.

Why are tariffs ok on our products, but bad if applied to their products?

Based upon a very productive meeting that I have had with the Secretary General of NATO, Mark Rutte, we have formed the framework of a future deal with respect to Greenland and, in fact, the entire Arctic Region. This solution, if consummated, will be a great one for the United States of America, and all NATO Nations. Based upon this understanding, I will not be imposing the Tariffs that were scheduled to go into effect on February 1st. Additional discussions are being held concerning The Golden Dome as it pertains to Greenland. Further information will be made available as discussions progress. Vice President JD Vance, Secretary of State Marco Rubio, Special Envoy Steve Witkoff, and various others, as needed, will be responsible for the negotiations — They will report directly to me. Thank you for your attention to this matter!

So why shouldn't he cancel the tariff plan?

It was only being touted as a negotiating tool in order to achieve a desired outcome.

To still impose it would be just plain mean.
 
Denmark dumped 100 million in bonds, I don't think he liked that at all. If enough ants rebel, the grasshoppers die.

That implies someone bought them. Does this affect anything much? Maybe the buyer won't spend that $100M on new bonds?
Wouldn't $100M almost cover the cost of the cruise missiles wasted on an abandoned Syrian air field?
Or about 1/400 of the cash that Bill Clinton found under his couch to send to Mexico?

Will 100% tariffs on Canada affect gold and silver? If enacted, will anyone want to buy Maples? Will dealers buy them with huge premiums to spot?

Speaking to reporters on Sunday, Carney said that the country respects its obligations under the Canada-U.S.-Mexico trade agreement, known as CUSMA in Canada and the USMCA in the U.S., and will not pursue a free trade agreement without notifying the other two parties.

SEOUL—President Trump sowed fresh doubts this week about the staying power of his trade deals with a vow to resurrect tariffs on South Korea despite an accord reached last fall.

Trump said Monday that South Korea’s reciprocal tariff rate, as well as levies on autos and other key sectors, would rise back to 25% from their current 15%. He cited delays in South Korea’s legislature approving a pact struck in late October with the country’s president, Lee Jae Myung. Trump didn’t say when the tariff increases would occur.

Trump is yet to react publicly to the EU-India deal, which was announced in the early hours of Tuesday morning European time, but he and the White House are unlikely to be happy with the deal. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent has already criticized the EU for forging ahead with a trade agreement with India.
