Can someone tell me why I'm able to post THIS (my question) but not an article I found and want to share?

Yes, you need to add a "hashtag" word. Hypothetically if the article is on dumbass liberals, the hashtag might be Liberals, Dummies, Pelosi, stupid liberals, etc.

That's based on my very limited hashtagging which has been limited only to the few threads I've posted here and my previous nausea over hearing the word hashtag.

Newmisty, I'm not sure I follow.

This appears at the bottom of my "post"

When I click inside the box I get a pop-up that says "please enter 3 or more characters".

Apparently any RANDOM three characters does not work.

All's ya gotta do is make it a real word pertaining to the article Dubz.

Well, I finally got it to post. Don't know why all my previous attempts failed, but since the article is from the website American Thinker, I used AMT and it magically "worked".

When you type a tag word into the field, be sure to hit enter or click on the word. You should see your word in the tag field with a border around it and a small 'x' button (to delete the tag word). Once you see that border, you can save your post (start your thread).

It only happens in the Politics forum if I recall?

Also, isn't a "hash tag" this: #politics with the pound "#" sign, whereas a 'tag' is from one to five words?

Any post can have 'tags' added by clicking on the 'tag' flag at the top of the page under the title:

but most folks don't bother.

I think it has something to do with web crawlers searching...

In information systems, a tag is a keyword or term assigned to a piece of information (such as an Internet bookmark, multimedia, database record, or computer file). This kind of metadata helps describe an item and allows it to be found again by browsing or searching.[1] Tags are generally chosen informally and personally by the item's creator or by its viewer, depending on the system, although they may also be chosen from a controlled vocabulary.[2]: 68
Tagging was popularized by websites associated with Web 2.0 and is an important feature of many Web 2.0 services.[2][3] It is now also part of other database systems, desktop applications, and operating systems.[4]
