That's what your grandpap said when you were a kid, too.
I can't speak for Nick...but that's what my grandparents did, too.

Bugged out. Out of Germany.

Actually, twice. After the Fed Depression hit, there wasn't much opportunity for someone with a thick German accent...and they had heard things were better in the Old Country, so they went back.

Unfortunately, what they found was the Wiemar QE Bubble. Things were great, until they weren't. Then they got really bad.

But...it's something every generation seems to have to face, once in their lifetime. It's not whether you bug out or not; it's if you meet your obligations while you make a move.

I've had to think on this, really. I'm too old to bug out. I can't learn Cyrillic or Russian; I won't fit in with Central American natives. So, I ride this bull until it throws me - until I'm arrested for CrimeThink. That's when I either eat my Glock, or force my betters in uniform, to eat some lead.

We will see. Frankly, I'm tired of waiting for the shoe to drop. It's a shame...most of my life was relatively comfortable, even though I was never rich. Then this, at the end.

What protections does a subject have, that they might change their stance suddenly?

We have the Second Amendment. It's no longer a guarantee, but it is an obstacle. In Canada and in Australia, they had none - and in each, firearms were banned, slowly or partially but suddenly, and with no legal blowback.

And we see what happened with the Coof and with the In-vase-shun, of all these Diversity avatars.

So...again...I dunno. It's another world - a newcomer, and an alien, doesn't know where he stands, or if he has any standing at all.
